To be honest, I still use the good old TextEdit a lot. I am looking for an app wich assists creative writers and authors while thair creative process. If such is known to one of the good fellows inhabiting this forum, I am glad to hear from you.
This is the nicest app outside of TextEdit! I like it because it pretty much reminds me of a real editor in that you can actually have a blank screen when typing. I don’t really like the canvas view of pages or word because when you get to page 2 to view things on page 1 you have to stop interacting and interacting to get to these different canvases. Ulysses is just up-and-down which I love!

ByWord
I enjoy using ByWord. It's available for the Mac and iOS and deals with plain text and markdown.
Ulysses and Drafts
Ulysses is a great app. It's accessible with Voiceover and available for iPhone, iPad and Mac. I also use Drafts.
