Magic Tap

Does anyone know how magic tap functions on Mac? I just assigned a trackpad command to perform this action, but I don't really understand how it works. It doesn't seem to behave like the magic tap on iOS. Any clarification would be appreciated. Thanks!

When magic tap is triggered, html files downloaded to my computer?

What is magic tap? Triple click? Force touch?

There isn't a default trackpad gesture. I assigned one and honestly I have no idea what it actually does. It certainly doesn't play or resume audio or video. I haven't had a chance to use it to answer calls, though I suspect interacting with a popup menu would be more useful.

You could create a macro in Keyboard Maestro that uses a gesture that behaves differently depending on what app you have in front.

example: If you are in Youtube, you could make it play/pause the video, and if you are in Mail app do something different

Thanks!

Where? A two-finger double tap either opens the doc, menu bar, application/window chooser depending on where you tap on the trackpad.

Hello,
Chris was explaining the purpose of the magic tap gesture and how it works on iPhone. It is a two finger double tap there.
On the Mac, according to the original poster, it has no command assigned by default.

Regarding this topic, quite interesting. I never tried it, but it might be something that is a work in progress, or perhaps something that works in apps that are made for iOS but run on M1 Macs and utilize the already existing magic tap gesture on iPhones.

Got it. I misunderstood that question. I thought they were asking how to perform magic tap on Mac and, like me, wasn't entirely clear how it differed from iOS. I wrote this post assuming that whoever would respond knew how the magic tap functioned on iOS. That's why I was confused by Chris's response.

I suspect you might be on to something to assume that the magic tap gesture is optimized for iOS apps that can run on M1 Macs. It possibly explains why this gesture is essentially useless to me at present.
