Hello,
This is for all current and future sonar islanders. I've been thinking, and this might be too educationally heavy. However, sense the CCSS want to make mastery of skills more importnt than just doing the skills once, why not make that possible in the sonar islands platform? That is, instead of just getting one treasure chest to move on to another island, why not have this? In able to move forward with any island/to level up properly, players must get all three treasure chests--hints, mastering the island theme while doing this. What do you think of this idea? I think it's pretty good as you wouldn't be able to even upgrade a chest to the next level until you reach that level, by mastering the previous one. There will be no running total kept onboard the game of how many treasure chests you've succeeded in obtaining gold from, but you don't have to exit--this is done for you ... at least for the beginners. Nah, it's done for everyone on the first two levels only. then, mastery of exiting the island must be obtained as well as getting all the treasures. I'm, once again, thinking of this for an O&M-type set of skills one would use in real life, so what do you think? If it's too much, that's okay--we can keep it as it is. For we current players, whatever level we're on must be mastered in any one island --- or all of them currently unlocked--to level up/do so with the treasure chests. Let's make it more about mastering the skill than just getting by with one or two chests successfully found/finding the exit. Let's make this game a little more challenging, eh? Please meet me on my Discord page to discuss further the implications of this "new" sonar islands format--won't be told here. If you'd like, I can add you to Discord page--the same one I'm talking about--by phone number/e-mail.

I don't really understand …
I don't really understand what you are getting at. Can you provide a use case here, and be a bit more clear in your idea?
I'm not really sure what you mean by a use case, but ...
Hello,
I'm not really sure what you mean by a use case . However, I'll try to be more clear. the CCSS, which is the Common Core State Standards for education, wants students to have mastered skills--at least I think that's what I've been reading--instead of just getting by with the demonstration portion of a lesson and not much real work on mastering the skillset. For example, when you're talking about measurement, the NCTM--National Council of Teachers of Mathematics--would like skills to be at mastery level--at least 80 to 85% mastery on a lesson objective/lesson part ... of said objective, before moving into independent practice. that is, the students can solve the math problem by themselves, without help. However, in Sonar Islands, it would be the same thing. you would get help from the tutorial--actually playing through one whole island, not just viewing the tutorial that's there. the man on the tutorial would first help you out by telling you exactly what to do--for beginners only. more experienced players would have lower levels of support, so the man could say, "collect the gold from treasure chest 1 first." Even more experienced players would have no support, but they'd still be in the "guided practice" of the "lesson." in independent practice, no support's given, and players just play as they are now currently doing. however, in order to move from demonstration--which is mainly the narrator and someone else collecting the gold, but you can control some things to the independent practice, you'll have to master the skills you're being taught at a pretty high level, so the narrator and everyone else knows you can do it. only after your first few islands, when you go through all these steps, would you be able to exit on your own/have to achieve this mastery within guided practice and independent practice, first. Does this make more sense? If not, find me on Discord and I'll try explaining better.

lookingfor more exciting games
I am looking for more games coming
from mento home
make sence however I don't…
make sence however I don't think this was meant to be an education game otherwise they probably would have done this. I still don't see a use case for adults though. I would get board and not want to play the game anymore myself. the game is easy on its own which is probably why I got board after a few weeks.
There's the beauty of it, though!
Hello,
Did I forget to mention that the whole thing with mastery would only be for students/brand new players? they could set this up in the game settings/the teacher could, for students. After they get more used to the game and all, this setting could be turned off for them. I'd still like Mental Home to do something with all the details I've provided them through e-mail, making it more like a survival game where you're on one of the islands for a week--at most, and you have to survive/like they do in shows like Survivor Man and others/for that time. All you have is a little food and water, and you have to problem-solve to figure out what to do to survive your time on the island. collect the treasures as well while, for instance in the jungle, trapping the lions in those traps for your own meat. Yes, this would really hiss--get it, anyway, it would really make cat lovers mad, but you have to eat too, right? If that doesn't work, maybe fish from the ocean somehow? Have quests as well, when you can spare them. Ask around the jungle--see if you can find that camp just by the sounds you hear--I sware I can hear them talking every now and again. Ask them what they'd like you to do/what they need. Then, they'll give you something for your efforts. This would be on all islands, of course with modifications. I'll ask MH about the educational side of things, first, though. What about having one of those lions help you collect the gold? certainly, their ears might be better than yours at picking up the sound from farther away. I've got soo many new ideas for this game/see it going in many different but useful directions, so ...

The Future
just to bring you in mind, we have a blog post from summer, where we've rolled out the future of Sonar Islands. Here is the link https://www.mentalhome.eu/the-sonar-future/
And we are still working on the different steps and a new update with a major improvement should be ready soon.
We love Ashleighs creative attitude to bring a bunch of new and other ideas into Sonar Islands.
Educational games or app´s, though, is a different genre. All games have a balancing system, which is not accessible for the player. It is mostly math-based, so it would not be of great interest, while playing. For educational apps you need to monitor the personal standard. In real life this is done by talking. While talking you check out the needs, abilities, visions, wishes, future plans and so on. In case of educational app's you have to find a very good and clever way, to pick up someone at their momentarily level, plan a working scheme to bring them to a future and better level. To do this without personal and real communication is the challenge here, because you want to ensure the users to make progress.
What does this game do? Is it accessible?
Hi,
I’ve heard a lot about this game on here, & have 2 questions:
1. What, exactly, does this game do?
2. Is it accessible with voiceover?
how about create a new one
I hope you can create a new title
even it is a very good game I enjoy it a lot...
yeah it is a very good…
yeah
it is a very good accessible game.
and it works well with voice over
Okay, scrap the educational side of Sonar Islands.
Hello,
Okay, so we can scrap the educational side of Sonar Islands and just have fun. What about something where you're driving ... I mean piolating a sub or something through the ocean? you could move just in the ways you have now, putting up a weapon or something to fight sharks and all that underwater. of course, you'd have your three minutes still, three minutes of air to use wisely as well as collect the treasures. One of the islands might've sank underwater, and you have to explore it as well. what lies beneath the waves, other than a terrible death as it is now? tapping on the screen, would, of course move your ship forward, and swiping down would move you backward. I'll tell you more about this on the WhatsApp group for ios Voice Over games, so I'll see you there. I also wish you could do more on these islands, after the treasures have been collected. you might, for instance, look at one of those pictures in the temple, straightening it on the wall--should it be hung there but a bit crucked--by some gestures on the iDevice. I've not figured that part out yet, but, of course, you could somehow come back into the island after you've dropp3ed off your gold, right? Can you tell me a little about how the tribes would work? wouldn't people have to be online at the same time/I thought you were trying to avoid this for faster Internet speeds and all?
Thank you,

What’s with the subscription?
Hi,
Now that I finally figured out what this game was called, I looked it up on the App Store, and apparently, you have to have a subscription, just to play it. What’s up with that?
I'm not sure, but if you go with the cheapest ...
Hello,
I'm not sure, but if you go with the cheapest subscription, the 99 cent one, that is, it's not that bad. That's for getting diamonds anyway, so it's okay.
