Deleting text in iOS 15

Hi everyone!
I have recently purchased an iPhone 12, and was forced to install iOS 15. Although only a minor issue, it can be extremely irritating: I no longer seem to be able to hold down my finger on the delete key in a text field and backspace out multiple characters or lines of text with the one gesture. instead, I have to press the delete key, character by character, which can be rather time-consuming. is there a workaround for this, or something I can change in settings?
Many thanks.

Hi! You didn't say whether you use an external keyboard or the onscreen keyboard, but I have found that holding Delete to get rid of several characters still works for me on the latter in IOS 15: I have to start by deleting a few characters one at a time, then I can hold Delete to get rid the rest. This method has worked for me in several versions of IOS, including the latest.

assuming you use the on screen keyboard, just double tap and hold the delete key and it should start deleting characters till you release the key.
Other alternatives are: select all the text you want to remove, then pres the delete key. Or, in case you use the on screen braille keyboard, use the gesture -usually slide two fingers left- to remove by words.,,

Also you will see that VO says cama after you delete letters. iOS 1502

I have another workaround. But, it’s going to require you going into your settings and adding something to your voiceover rotor. I haven’t really found any problems with deleting text using the on screen keyboard several characters are words at a time. In any version of iOS that I’ve used. And I’ve had an iPad since the late stages of iOS 9. But here’s what I would do. Go into your settings, accessibility, and voiceover. And then go to the setting for voiceover rotor. Scroll through until you hear an option called text selection. And do a one finger double tap on it to select it. Then,You will have the option to either select my page, word, character, or select all, or line. Once you have that option on your router, go to the place where you have text that you want to delete, scroll through after turning your rotor to words are characters, depending on how much stuff you want to delete, go to the place where you want to start deleting, turn your Writer to activate text selection, and she is your preferred selection method, in this case word, or character. And then swipe right with one finger to select the text you want to delete. Once that’s done, turn your rotor again to the edit, click up with one finger or down, until you hear the cut option. And do a one finger double tap on it and all of that text will be deleted. When you get to the text selection, just flip up and down with one finger to choose a method of selection. You don’t have to double tap to select that method. If you want to delete everything, select all, and then placed two fingers on the screen, and pinch them out, and it will select all the text, and then you can cut it.
