I just got out of a zoom meeting and I'm trying to find a career. I am working with Jennifer MacNeil, from the Canadian National Institute for the Blind who has a friend who is a VoiceOver specialist. I am considering working in in a similar capacity. is VoiceOver specialist a current position with Apple? what are any on this site working in the technology field? I would like to setup a chat with someone to discuss options if anyone are working in the tech field. I, ideally would be working for Apple, teaching the use of VoiceOver in their Halifax, Nova Scotia Canada location. if anyone can reach out to me, that would be great! just say you're from AppleVis regarding this forum post.

Assistive Technology Instructor
First, I highly doubt such a position with Apple itself exists. Not that they don't have agents who know Voice Over, but that's too specific of a job to pay someone to do only that with out performing other duties, as well.
If you want to do something along those lines, there is such a job as assistive technology instructor. To become one, you will need to be able to teach other assistive technologies, such as JAWS, NVDA, Talkback, braille displays and more (think OCR apps or devices or other items used for identification).
At least here in the U.S., you would also need a technical degree of some kind from a college or university, or a degree in something else related like special education. I saw a listing for exactly the job I am describing very recently, so I am paraphrasing that job description as well as my own experience.
There are a lot of jobs in the tech arena besides teaching assistive tech, so it's definitely worth doing your research to try to figure out what direction you want to go. Some will be more work than others. Do you want to be an digital accessibility specialist, a programmer, a systems administrator or something else entirely? All these and more are options, but I will say that all of them will take school or other training.
I hope this at least gives you some things to think about. I love working in tech, but it took effort and determination to get here.

thanks for your reply. It gives me a lot to think about. I will think about your comment more and it will help me come to a sedition. if you have any further insite let me know. Since there is probably not such a position as a VoiceOver specialist, the next idea is to be an assistive technology instructor. What is available for education to work in this field in Canada? ®®
