When I swipe through the smartnews app lately there's an area right in the middle of the news stories titled topics, and since I haven't chosen any topics that area is blank and I have to swipe a little ways to get back to the stories. Also there used to be a tab called discover that I could open to add new news sources and that's not there now. I did uninstall the app for a short time and then I reinstalled and that's when I noticed these changes, has anybody else noticed this and is there a way to make the app act like it did before? If not is there another app available that works similarly to smartnews? Btw I tried google news and I didn't care much for it.
Thanks.

Yes and no
Hi. I use the app and noticed the same thing. If you select your topics, they will appear in the list of tabs. When I get down to that new blank area, I go to my list of tabs and select one. That gives me a bunch of additional articles in the selected topic.
Sometimes I just keep swiping right until I get past the blank area. This doesn't always work, though.
Google news is actually pretty good if you have a specific user defined topic. Apple news plus isn't bad either if you don't mind swiping and swiping and swiping and swiping and swiping and swiping.
I also recommend AP news and reuters news and news wire, although I don't use them much. Nightly News is what my wife likes, but it is ABC pap, if you want non comprehensive.
Good luck!
Bruce
thanks
Thanks Bruce, at least I know it's not just me. I'll go in and investigate the topics and maybe there'll be something there I'm interested in.
I hate it when the format of some of the apps I like changes.
me too
Hi, Troy B.
I'm with you there. I hate it when formats change, because, usually, it's not for the better.
I have a couple alternatives you could look at. I personally like news agragators like Smart News, because they eliminate the need to have pages upon pages of news apps in a folder, or hogging up screen real estate. I follow and read many news sources, including Reuters, AP News, my local news stations you get the picture. Not only do I follow many different news sources, but, I also like to follow a lot of topics like lifestyle, health, tech and any sub-topics.
I recommend that you check out Microsoft News, as news agragators. Or, you could try an RSS feed reader. I have a couple, but, Lire is my favorite. It'll cost you $10 USD. but, it's worth it. The 2 apps I mentioned above, are free. Hope this helps.
Microsoft news
Microsoft news was very very good but itβs no longer accessible unfortunately. And suggestions for anything else which is similar to that?
