Description of App

NVDARemote is an app to remote control a NVDA screen reader. This app is the client software, you have to setup a seperate NVDARemote server in your network.

To use this app, you'll need an external keyboard. After the connection is established, all inputs made on the external keyboard will be forwarded to the NVDARemote server, including the special keys Strg, Alt, Windows, Esc, F1-12 and so on.

Attention: You need an external keyboard to control the NVDARemote PC. The output of TTS is contolled by the ringtone volume, not by the media volume. You have to enable the ringtone (lever on the upper left side).

Accessibility Comments

It's accessible. You do need an external keyboard and to turn off quick nav, before using this app though, however you may set it up using your touch screen.

VoiceOver Performance

VoiceOver reads all page elements.

Button Labeling

All buttons are clearly labeled.

Usability

The app is fully accessible with VoiceOver and is easy to navigate and use.

Other Comments

It works well given the app was just released very recently.
One annoyance is the escape key does not pass through to NVDA on my computer, and VoiceOver gives me the error ding.
The app works fine otherwise, and there are usually other crude ways to exit menus without escape.

For me to be able to connect to nvda remote, do I need to have it on server and port forward, or can I do it via client? I ask because the, port field shows up in the nvda remote app on ios, so not sure if this means I can only get this to work via server and would have to port forward, or will it work if client is selected?
Edit: nevermind, I got it to work now via client. Guess my wifi was just really bad yestorday to get it to work.
