Hey guys, and a blessed day to all of you in His name! Have a quick question for all of you. I'm looking for some good apps to install on my 64GB Apple TV 4K 5th gen which are accessible with Voiceover and offer good content either for free or subscription, preferably free, which is specifically christian based. Things which center around biblical principles with good heartfelt and heartwarming story backgrounds of inspiration. I don't really need something with audio discription capability, although absolutely that would be a huge bonus.
I've checked out things like Right Now Media, Pureflix, and maybe 1 or 2 others I'm forgetting, but nothing I've tried seems to be all that great when it comes to accessibility. I'd be willing to even just use my phone with iOS, if that's the only way to get good accessibility with this.
I know there are some things like this up on Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, etc, but the difference here is, I'm specifically wanting an app that very directly focuses not on content in general with some christian titles thrown in along the way. What I want is specifically something that is completely christian only based.
Thanks much guys, and God bless.
Chris.

VidAngel
Please clarify.
You said you didn't know the state of the TV apps. So, I'm confused. Are you saying that the TVOS apps, you're not sure about, but the iOS app for VidAngel is accessible? What about in the area where like most apps doing videos, there's a grid of sort with recommended shows? Do those read in the iOS app? I'm a bit hesitant to try this not knowing, especially if I have to pay for a subscription. I'll look at the link you provided though. I presume I shouldn't be deceived by the title you provided. Dry Bar Comedy? Um, I hope this isn't like dry comedy that like most comedy gets a bit crude and raunchy at times in places. That is 1 billion! percent not what I'm looking for. If a 10 year old kid couldn't appropriately listen to it, then I want nothing of it. IN my house what we watch serves God, and that's final!
Kevin, I owe you an apology.
Kevin, my last comment to you probably came off a slight bit harsh. I'm sorry if that was indeed the case. I just looked at the link you provided. I shouldn't have jumped the gun and assumed so quickly. This kind of looks like what I was thinking, but it looks more like, according to their website, all this really does is filters content already available like on Netflix, etc. I know they apparently have some clean origional content, but it looks like what they're more really pushing is their filtering, so not quite what I was looking for.
You mentioned Pureflix. Pureflix is great, but the accessibility last I looked was aweful both on iOS as well as on TVOS, and when I wrote them about it, they really didn't seem all that willing to make it more so. They said they'd look into it, but almost a year later, they allowed me to get another free trial. I tried, and if anything, it was even worse than before. For example to be more specific, when on the main browse screen, none of the titles read when flicking through them. When I tried searching, Voiceover wouldn't read any of the results. It focused on them, but nothing was spoken, so I never knew what I was watching. If it wasn't for such a terrible experience, I'd try it again, but, I'd have to really be convinced by a regular Pureflizx user that things have drasticly improved. To be fair, it's now been over a year since I tried it the 2nd time. So if things have changed, I'd love to know!
Unfortunately Christopher, the VidAngel is….
Monthly subscriptions only. I would have loved to hear some of that dry barred comedy.
Yeah...
And besides, it doesn't even quite look like what I entirely had in mind. To be fair though, Kevin did try helping, and for that, thank you. As I said, I apologize for my initial comment, as admittedly, it probably did come off a slight bit rudely, even though that wasn't my intentions.
Look at up tv
I haven't checked the app out but this may not be for you. They air Gilmore Girls which the mother has sex at sixteen, and the daughter sleeps with her married boyfriend, has an affair, with her other boyfriend and at the end of the last four part episode, the daughter is pregnant. so how is that faith based? I'm not religious, and i enjoy this soap for it's off color humor at times, so i might not be the right person for the job.
A Couple Rather Suggestions
Not sure of the accessibility of this app for TVOS but I know it's not accessible for iOS, also by VidAngel, The Chosen, or, an Apple TV subscription to Up Faith And Family TV, which is uplifting entertainment.
veteytales
hello,
there are two Netflix Originals which I think fit what your looking for. Veteytales in the city and Vegeytales in a house. years ago, there used to be Veteytales movies. they were christian cartoons with biblical verses quoted at the end of each episode, that fit into the plot of each. I used to watch the movies when I was a child. good clean christian fun.
Veering
We're slowly beginning, I feel to veer OT, so I'll end after saying this, unless others have more suggestions, but I do know exactly what you're talking about, and yes. They are adorable! Gotta love Larry! LOL!
for sure
Larry is funny, too
Staying away
Yeah, I won't be touching that with a 10 foot poll! Thank you though for your input.
No problem
This is why I'm not religious. I'm just curious. If such a plot line, such as premarital sex, and drinking and other issues bother, you, a Christian, how does a network, saying they embrace "family values", put it up besides, hey it's a ratings gig? I'm not belittling anyone's faith, I just hate most of the monkey see not do attitude. . We won't let the show use Damn, or hell, except in rare cases for that last one. But again above twists including theft, is ok? I'll stay on the satanic side, thanks. :) I should add that the channel on tv only is showing the gilmore girls. the faith and value subscription I don't but as said before, religion and I are not on terms. Sorry dude.
Dry Bar Comedy
Hi,
Sorry for the long delay. Dry Bar Comedy works very well with VoiceOver on iOS. I've worked with it on iPhone. The app does require a subscription.
Dry Bar Comedy is VidAngel's series of clean standup comics from around the USA—no swearing, sex or raunchy topics. It's all very PG. They have a great channel on YouTube that is free and you can find full specials there.
