Introducing Cribbage Academy for Mac; seeking beta testers

At Rivergate Software we have a cribbage game which uses the Macintosh dictation voices to play the game by speaking aloud as well as playing the game visually. We are looking for help in making this game fully accessible. The game was released in Swift 3 and has been converted to Swift 4. We also have alpha versions in Spanish, French, German, and Czech.

Cribbage has been called the best 2-handed card game, because it rewards skill, also has an element of luck, and starts with only 6 cards which are reduced to 4 after discarding to the "crib". It is also ideal for voice control because unless there is a potential flush of 4 cards the suits don't matter.I wrote the first version of this game for the original Macintosh in 1986, using the "MacInTalk" voice. There are literally a couple of hundred local clubs belonging to the American Cribbage Congress and regional and national tournaments are held.

My initial concept is that the dealt cards will be announced without suits unless there at least four cards of the same suit. Then the game would announce the cards of the same suit first, and make automatic choices when there are more than one card of the same denomination, without the player having to announce the suit. Because we start with only 6 cards remembering the hands becomes doable.
Please reply to this post if you are interested in this project.

Hello,
This sounds like a great project. The Mac lacks accessible games, so any additions to the small list we do have are wonderful. I don't know how much time I'll have for testing, given everything else I'm testing these days, but I'm happy to contribute what I can.

I am interested in helping test this game. The only issue I have with cribbage is knowing how to properly add up my hands. You can contact me at cjackson102@cox.net and let me know what I need to do to test this game.

Would be happy to test if you'd like. Send email to: bleeblat@gmail.com
I'm not sure how your voice dictation thing works, but your idea seems very logical from what you've posted so far. Also the only app for the phone is a little cumbersome to use with touch screens. This would be particularly good if it helps you with discard databases for troublesome hands or several other possible features. A stable multiplayer mode would be good as well. Keyboard controls would be good for those that either need privacy, or just suck at dictating. Also how you plan to have the user count their hand is something I'm curious about. This might be easier with dictation actually instead of just typing numbers because of accepted cribbage conventions for counting.

Just stumbled across this. Wondering what's up with this project now. If there are still tests being done I'd be very willing to jump in. If it's live, I'd love to know how to access it. It's a great idea. Thanks.
