You can go to settings, sounds, and turn up your system volume. If Voiceover speech becomes too loud, you can adjust the volume appropriately in the roter.

This has happen on any of my iPhones. The previous poster has already suggested the quick fix to this problem. I have found that, if I have previously used a Bluetooth headset or other Bluetooth speaker, this is most likely when the phone doesn't revert to the previous volume I had used when not connected to a Bluetooth device. I have experienced this all the way back to my first iPhone 4. So whether Voiceover or sounds don't seem to be as you expect them to be, either do a two finger swipe down on an active screen and press and hold the volume upbutton or go into settings and maximize the sound volume there.

A couple more notes: I also use an iPhone 6S as a backup device. Over time I have noticed that everything is just a bit more quiet than it was when I first got it. I think the speaker is just worn out.

Also, it is my understanding that as of iOS15, the iPhone 6S will not be able to be upgraded to that operating system. I think the iPhone 6S has reached the end of life cycle for that particular device. It might be time for you to upgrade. The apps will still be able to be upgraded as long as the developer says they can work on an iPhone 6S, but the operating system will no longer have the latest fixes available. It's an unfortunate reality to owning a device like this.

It should be noted that, according to Apple's recent WWDC event, they have indicated that the iPhone 6S will be able to be updated to iOS15. This means that, all minor updates inside the iOS15 version will also be available. I am uncertain whether or not iOS16 will be able to be used on the iPhone 6S.
