Podcast App survey

I have always used Overcast and can't recommend it highly enough. It's accessible with VoiceOver on IOS and does everything I would expect out of a podcast app.

Overcast for me too. Beautiful and easy to use design, and great with VoiceOver.
Shout out for Downcast too, which I used for a long time, but Overcast is my favourite.

Castro is great. They do have an annual subscription which I am happy to pay for the advanced features but you can use the free version and still get a lot from the app.

Downcast for me. For some crazy reason I don’t like Overcast. Downcast fit all my specs for a podcast app.

I also prefer Downcast.
I've also used Overcast and still have it on my phone.
I like it but it annoys me that I can't find top podcasts in my region.
Downcast have this feature and I also like the Downcast UI but the same goes for Overcast.
I guess I would move to Overcast if it could display top lists of podcasts in my region.

I use so many. I use Overcast and downcast like a lot of people who have made comments. I also use Castro, and Downcast as well. But, that's not all I use. I have about 23 apps that I use for podcasts. I use: Downcast, Overcast, Castro, Apple's Podcasts app, Spreaker, Cosmicast, Castbox, RSS radio, Google podcasts, Pocket casts, Stitcher, RadioPublic, Icatcher, Castaway, UCast, HiCast, RSSPod, and I also use 2 apps that are called, Podcasts App, and Podcast App. I also use Luminary and Wondery. All of these apps vary in price and accessibility. Some of these, you can find in the AppleVis app directory for IOS. Another thing I suggest you check out, if you use a service like Pandora, Spotify, TuneIn, or Amazon Music, is if they have any of the podcasts that you like listening to.Al, check out Iheart Radio, and see if they have any of the podcasts you like. I love how accessible it is, easy to use and simple design with no clutter. I also love the ability to add a URL. which means that if I can't find something on overcast but on apple podcasts I can just coppy the URL and add it to my overcast feed.

hi all I use castro for now, but like the look of overcast. how would I hide played episodes though, and queue to play next?

Right now I'm using iCatcher! You do need to pay for it up front, but the features I like are being easily able to keep and export downloaded podcasts, and being able to import your own files without a subscription.
I've used apple podcasts before this, and overcast before that.

I use the Apple podcasts app. I am happy with the new redesign. I also like how Apple added the categories in the search tab. It's similar to the way you search for songs, artists and albums in Apple music and on Spotify.

I used to use Overcast for a long time until the sound kept glitching and the only way to correct it was to force quit and restart. I switched to PocketCasts years ago and it works great with VoiceOver and Siri Shortcuts. The developers have been really responsive to bug reports and feature enhancements.

After years of using the Apple Podcasts app, I started using Castro at the beginning of this year: it's so easy to customise, including clearing podcasts I don't want to listen to, queuing up the ones I do want to hear, and so on, that I now use it 99 % of the time. I still use Apple Podcasts occasionally, but I find Castro much better: I have never tried any other podcast apps on IOS, but it's good to have so much choice, judging from the posts before mine in this thread.

I used to love using Downcast, but sice getting an odd audio bug when listening to podcasts with my 2nd generation AirPods and with my AirPods Pro, I switched over to Overcast and love it. Been meaning to check out recent versions of Castro, as I did check it out back when Jonathan Mosen was singing its praises, but wasn't too crazy about it then, but thought I'd give it a second chance.

I have tried almost all of the podcast apps mentioned in prior comments, but I keep coming back to Overcast again and again.
While I wish it would borrow a feature or two from Pocket Cast and Castro, it's accessibility, performance and ease of use just put it ahead of the competition in my opinion.

I have tried several different podcatchers, but always come back to iCatcher. It's full featured, fast, reliable, and has a very responsive developer.
