VoiceOver problem at start up

watchOS and Apple Watch Apps

Hello, I have noticed after the latest update that my watch won't speak when it restarts. I have to ring my number from another phone, or attempt to play the sound on my watch using the find my app on my iPhone. The sound does not come through straightaway, except for the sound I get when attempting to turn on VoiceOver. Turning the screen reader on and off again does not solve the problem.

A friend and I have both experienced the same issue with our series 6 watches. It started happening to me last weekend since the 7.4 update. The only solution I have for yu at this point is to simply leave the watch turned on, to avoid this issue in the future.

I have also experienced the same issue. I am using a watch SE. I find that if you leave the watch alone for a few minutes, the speech seems to come back.

I have a series 5. Forgot to mention that. My iPhone also has the latest software.

Hi,

I have a series 5 watch and my wife has a series 6. We have both experienced this problem as well. We were both also using a siri voice for VoiceOver as well. Although not ideal, the only solution we could find was to unpair and then re-pair our watches, choosing set up new watch rather than restoring from a previous backup, and also using the default built-in VoiceOver voice for your region. Since doing all this, our watches now behave as expected when you turn them on.

A drastic solution, but it does work. Hope this helps.

I have an Apple Watch series 6 with cellular and I have also noticed that with the last watchOS update that when I restart Apple Watch voiceover does not turn on pressing the digital crown for times allows the noise that is supposed to be played on voiceover comes on the noise plays however voiceover does not respond and come on The first time I experienced this issue a had to have my cited roommate reset the watch pray pressing the digital crown and the side button at the same time after doing that several times voiceover finally came on I attempted to replicate the issue again this morning I was able to replicate the issue and I was able to get voiceover to turn on only after getting the Apple Watch to turn on then unlocking my phone and since I have the settings that unlocks your watch automatically when you unlock your phone for the first time that is the only way the voiceover would come on if anybody else has had this issue that is totally blind my suggestion would be to do as follows make sure that your Apple Watch and phone are set so that way you can unlock your Apple Watch with your phone using Face ID that should allow voiceover to come on make sure you are of course wearing your watch I hope Apple fixes the song I also noticed that Apple Watch with cellular has a problem with the latest iOS update with allowing Siri to access cellular data Siri says that the watch is not connected to the Internet and that Siri is not available however the cellular signal strength shows good bars
