Hi everyone hope you're doing well and staying safe. My friend and I are in different locations quite far away from each other but we both have iOS devices. We would like to watch a movie or listen to an audiobook together. Are there any apps that would allowers to do this on iPhone and are accessible?

OK, kind of yes, and kind of no. More so, yes.
OK, so yeah, there are a few things you could do. They're not all entirely free, but are reasonably priced, and potentially could get the job done.
One thing you could do is use something like Backpack Studio. Now, I don't know if you can stream video or not with this app, I seem to remember you can, but I definitely know you can stream audio at the very least. So, you could theoretically load up Backpack, possibly put the video on one of the carts, then go that way.
Another option would be to try the iOS version of TeamTalk. I know that at least the windows version will let you stream an audio file across to everyone connected in a channel. So, you might could go about streaming the audio, and maybe even the video that way across where both of you could watch together.
Another option which I know definitely will work, but may be a bit more pricy in the longrun than you really care to use would be Zoom. You could technically set up a Zoom meeting, then use screen sharing to share your screen/audio and stream it across to your friend/friends. I think VLC Media player might even have a streaming option, though it might be an addon. I'm honestly not the most knowledgeable about the inner advanced features of VLC, but it is possible. Plex might also be able to do this.
The final possibility may be to route your screen and audio across with Team Viewer Assist, though on iOS, I'm not sure how limited that would be due to Apple's close API structure. That may actually not work, but it's worth a try as a last resort.
If worst comes to worst, you could always use one device for the media, or speaker for the media, then Facetime with your friends, and just let your iPhone's microphone pick up the sound, and transmit it over Facetime. I get that isn't at all ideal, but if all you need is the audio side of it, that might be a very poor man's way of getting it done.
I've probably not been much help, but I at least hope this gives you a couple of ideas worth researching further.
