Braille on Apple Products

Hello, I'm trying to use my focus 40 braille display to type ion my MacBook. it will not let me type in contracted braille despite the fact that I have selected six dot contracted braille as the preferred writing mode for my computer. it seems to be usigÿng computer braille which I only know} a little bit of. I am DeafBlind and rely heavily on my braille display.
Does anyone else experience this issue?
Does anyone else know how to navigate using the braille display?

Unfortunately, braille support on Mac has been broken for a very long time. It was terrible on Catalina, and it looks like it's not much better on Big Sur. Your best bet is reporting it to accessibility@apple.com but I wouldn't hold my breath on them fixing it any time soon.
