searching for apps

Hi, I have a question about searching for apps, that could also possibly be a suggestion. I have found when searching for apps searches are often imprecise, this is often because I am looking for a particular type of app but don't know names I should be searching for. So my question is, although apps are grouped into particular standard categories, are there any ways to narrow searches, for example I was trying to get a list of all weather related apps up, but simply putting the search weather into the search area and selecting ios app directory gave me a massive list of results. This brings me on to a related subject, I think although general app categorisation is good, I think it really should be made possible for people to add tags to apps, so in my example if all weather related apps could be given the tag weather and a checkbox be made available to search app tags for that entered string this could be really useful. Of course this would depend on people entering tags for apps, but I think this could be a useful way of searching.

Hello Alex, Not certain exactly if this would help but have you ried the following? There is an App link on the Main Page of the site. Follow by an IOS Apps by Category. On this page you can find just the Weather apps. Plus, before the first Weather app is mentioned. There are a variety of ways to filter down your results by Pricing, Accessibility, and such. So wasn't sure if that would help you out or not? So take a look at the following page and look for that filtering options you can use. http://www.applevis.com/ios-app-directory/weather HTH

Alex, I'm not sure what advantage using tags would have over simply browsing apps by category - http://www.applevis.com/ios-app-directory/browse There's also the Advanced Search which offers further fine-tuning options - http://www.applevis.com/app-directory/ios/search Both of these links can be found on the main 'Apps' page.

Hi, thanks for the replies. I didn't realise about being able to search by category, OK that is useful for locating weather apps in this example. But another instance where I would find tags useful would be if I was looking for all email clients listed in the directory, or even audio players. Sometimes app names don't give any clue to there function so lets say your browsing by category looking for in this case email related apps, if I want to go looking for them I would either try business or productivity, both of which are very large categories. A simple tag of email for any apps related to email would be helpful in this case. Similarly regarding apps for listening to music or audio books, they might be in eentertainment or music, again two very large categories to search.

You can use the cadagories to narrow you're search.
