I have been hearing about TikTok a lot lately, so wanted to give it a try. Many parts of the app work with VoiceOver, but I am having trouble getting the videos to play. Has anyone here had success with this app?
Hi!
Yes, I have tryed using tikTok. I didn't have any issues playing videos there, but i don't know if it's possible to remove things that you have done and published there...
However, i also think that tikTok is not really good thing for us, like there are lots of visual content without sound and we cannot watch it.
But the app is preety accessible.
I have tried it, but the audio from the videos are louder than voice over. How do you use this app with voice over? Also how do you get third party apps from trying to track you?
I love tick tock I use it all the time I just listen to the videos I find it so entertaining I love the music videos there’s so many funny videos you can just Listen too with just your ears yes it is a visual app but everything is accessible besides knowing what the video and content is everything else though is on point I don’t use it for taking pictures or uploading I only use it for listening to videos I can just double tap on the home or for you section and everything is accessible when swiping left or right or just double tapping on home and for you the only thing that’s not accessible is the actual audio content with the videos
How do you use it? Please walk me through the use of this feature, I was never told about this one. Is tick tock safe to use now? I know that it was being tracked illegally by hackers. How do you keep your personal information private?
hey
audioducking is a feature of voiceover. when I got my IPhone this feature was on by default.
you're playing a song for instance. and you unlock your phone. so whenever voiceover will speak, the audio will be ducked.. means the audio's volume will lower slightly so that voiceover can be heard effectively and as soon as voiceover stops speaking the song will return to the normal audio.
hope this makes sense and I'm not getting you confused :)
"To set other audio options, go to Settings > Accessibility > VoiceOver > Audio, then set options such as the following: Sounds & Haptics: Adjust and preview sound effects and haptics. Audio Ducking: Temporarily reduce media playback volume when VoiceOver speaks." https://support.apple.com/en-in/guide/iphone/iphfa3d32c50/ios#:~:text=Adjust%20the%20VoiceOver%20volume%20and%20other%20audio%20options&text=To%20set%20other%20audio%20options,playback%20volume%20when%20VoiceOver%20speaks.
hope this helps.
I'm surprised there hasn't been some sort of guide on using tiktok with VO posted anywhere. Anyone have tips? I'm glad the like button now says when it's selected.
I believe we should write to developers about accessibility and that it should be improved.
I am sure it's possible!
The only question is:
I didn't find any contact info!
First I wrote back to the devs but they never wrote me back secondly when I used the app it wasn't very accessible lots of unlabeled buttons a few things read a little bit but not enough to do anything productive I don't know if things have improved bc its been a few months since I looked at things I don't know anything about videos over pictures if videos don't play automatically I wonder if there is a setting which could help with this and finally...
How easy was it to read this post with such a long run-on sentence? Probably not very? Yeah... Um...
The first time I used it, I didn’t have to make an account. But now I do. Please help me with turning on the feature where you can use your Apple ID to sign into apps. Thanks for any help
Hello:
AM a tiktok user for more than 2 years, and in the last 4 or 5 month, i started posting my videos there.
for sure, we can not use Effects and so on, but Uploading our videos to tikktok is accessible, also, capture ourselvs and publish to Tiktok is also accessible.
now, my Hashtag there is above 100000 i think this is great for a blind musician.
you can put my hashtag there:
#ramymostafasaber
am here if anyone need to ask about uploading etc.
As soon as I double tap on TikTok I press the home button to activate my accessibility shortcut and turn off VoiceOver then once the audio starts playing I’d start swapping to the right to get to next clip swapping to the left for the previous clip and tapping the screen once for around a second to pause and play
Once I’m done I press the home button once then turn on my accessibility shortcut and then turn VoiceOver on
Simple
Hi, Scrawling down the main timeline can be problematic as VoiceOver focus will jump back to the top of your following timeline. I found creating videos was much more accessible a year ago but not so now! There are a lot of VI users on there, so they must have some sort of work around for posting content. I have to turn VoiceOver off if I want to scrawl successfully down my timeline.
To scrawl means to "write (something) in a hurry"...did you perhaps mean "scrolling"?
To everyone on this website, please be sure to proofread your content before submitting it, and correct any spelling or other mistakes that may arise. It only takes a few seconds and will make your content much more understandable (and also spare you the embarrassment and humiliation from your poor writing).

How do you sign in using your Apple ID?
The first time I used it, I didn’t have to make an account. But now I do. Please help me with turning on the feature where you can use your Apple ID to sign into apps. Thanks for any help
I have tried
I did not like the application. It is not that accessible, and the application has a lot of bugs.
Tick-tock not accessible

Performing a search on TikTok?
Hi all. Does anyone know how to search on TikTok? You were able to do that before but not sure what happened after the latest updates.
Thanks much!
I don't like it
Hello. I've tried to navigate around the app with Voiceover, but I do not like it. it could be improved.
I use TikTok without VoiceOver
As soon as I double tap on TikTok I press the home button to activate my accessibility shortcut and turn off VoiceOver then once the audio starts playing I’d start swapping to the right to get to next clip swapping to the left for the previous clip and tapping the screen once for around a second to pause and play
Once I’m done I press the home button once then turn on my accessibility shortcut and then turn VoiceOver on

Creating content needs some Help
Concerning swiping between Videos, it is working, but creating content is also working but need some work around.
I don’t even bother
My experiences with creating TikTok‘s are so bad that I don’t even bother doing it unless I’m uploading videos through the share sheet
you should try
I did this and very interesting indeed.
you should give it a try
