Having problems with attachments on mail on an iPad

Hi.
So I have had this problem
for a long time and I cant figure out how to make it work.
How do I attach files and other things in an email on the mail app on my iPad?
I can do it so much easier on my phone but some of my work is on my iPad.
I've asked friends and they said it is the same as the phone and I tried doing what I usually do on my phone but with no luck.
Does anybody here know how to get this to work on an iPad?

If you are starting things in the Mail app, and finding that the “Insert Attachment” button from the onscreen keyboard isn't working reliably or as expected, you could come at things from another direction - so, find the desired file in the Files app or photo in the Photos app, and then use the Share sheet to share it by email.

Of course, simply ignore the above if you've already tried both approaches and neither work for you☺️

If that is the case, how exactly does adding an attachment not work?

Hi.
Thank you. That is a great work around..
Pretty much I'm having trouble finding the insert attatchment button. It's really strange because on my phone I can do it easily. The reason I'm wanting to find the insert attachment button is so I can reply to messages with the attachments. I hope that makes since.

The three ways I can think of off the top of my head are start from the files app, share to mail and then write the message.

If you're already writing the email, either triple click on the text area and pick attach document for files or attach photo for the photos app. Or if you're feeling adventurous, you could drag and drop from the files app.

Thank u.
The reason I'm asking is because I'm trying to send attachments for class. Multiple attachments and it would be easier to just reply to the email and insert them like I can on my phone. Now when you say tripple tap are you saying triple tap with one finger?
I have never dragged and dropped before.
Is it easy?
Or is there a guide on here somewhere? If it comes down to it I will use the work around with sharing files one by one in separate messages but would like to try these other options first.

I did mean triple tap with one finger, yes.

As for drag and drop, reasonably. In the files app, on the actions menu that you get when swiping up and down with one finger, one of the options is drag. You'll hear a tone when you select it. After that, any file you double Tap gets added to the stack of things you're dragging.

Go back to Mail, and one of the action options should be drop. This works either with the two apps in multitasking or not.

Ok so the triple tap works. Well kind of. It's hit and miss. The first file I was able to add no problem. When i tried adding more files the menue didn't come up. Took me a few tries to make it come up again. Any strategies for that? Also drag and drop. Wasn't working for me. I'll have to play around with it more. Thank you for all the help.

I'm not sure, honestly. About the only things I can think of are to make sure the message is in edit mode. It might also matter what you're triple tapping on in the field, but I'm not sure.

Another thing I thought of too was that, provided all the documents are in the same folder and you don't have to reply to an existing message, you could also just select multiple documents in the files app and share them. Then they'll all be attached to one message.

Like on the Mac it should work to copy the file in the Files app and paste it into the e-Mail.
But what's really a pitty: I'm not able to see reliably if the file is attached. I'd wish Apple would increase the accessibility rate of Mail on iPad.
