I haven't been able to reproduce this, but when I'm using the Alex voice with VoiceOver on Mac, the voice will randomly change to a high pitch and rate, I have usually found this behaviour when checking the time or just navigating the screen. The voice doesn't sound as if the pitch is set to 100%, rather, the voice seems to lose its human quality and sound very robotic, higher pitched and fast.
Has anyone experienced this? Do they know how to stop this from randomly happening/ I noticed this with 11.2.1 as this hasn't happened before.
macOS 11.2.1 running on 2018 Intel MacBook Pro 13" 8 GB/512 GB.

I have that problem
I have experienced the same issue but with Juan. I frequently switch between English and Spanish using Alex and Juan. Since the introduction of Big Sur I'm having several issues with the Spanish voice after switching from Alex. The worst of those problems is the high pitch voice that you mentioned since it requires me to turn off and on Voiceover several times until the voice starts to sound normal. The other issues that I have is that some times after switching to Juan from Alex, for some reason some texts are not read randomly. For example if I'm moving around the messages tavle in Mail, some times it will read the label that I'm in the subjet field or the from field, but will not read the content of the field. At least this problem I can solve it by switching to Juan, and then turning off and on Voiceover. As long as I don't switch to another voice, Juan will word without any problems.
