BrailleNote Touch Plus Connectivity Issues

Hi all,

I've recently started using my BrailleNote Touch plus as a Braille Display for my iPhone. While this setup works really well overall, I have found that when my phone locks, the connection to the braille display is dropped as expected, but the only way to reconnect it is by going into Settings > Accessibility > VoiceOver > Braille and selecting the device. In other words, it does not automatically reconnect once my phone is unlocked again.

I'm using the latest version of iOS 14 and the BrailleNote Touch's OS is also on the latest version. I'm aware that the latest release of iOS 14 introduced a connection issue for certain HumanWare Braille Displays, however I do not believe this is the same issue here as it occurred in previous iOS 14 versions as well for me.

Does anyone know if there is a way to have the BrailleNote automatically reconnect when the phone has been unlocked? Is this a bug, or expected behaviour?

The only solution I can think of so far is to turn auto lock off and only lock my phone manually when I know I won't be using the BrailleNote with it for some time, however this is far from ideal for many obvious reasons, mainly security and battery life related.

Thanks for any help with this.

Hi Callum, I've just upgraded to the Touch from an Apex. Haven't gotten to connecting to my phone yet. But, thanks for the heds-up on what may happen with connectivity.

I've had the same issue with the BrailleNote Touch disconnecting after the iPhone is locked. Humanware tech support are aware of it. The only way to reconnect is as you describe. So I prefer to use my Focus 14 Blue or Brailliant BI 14 instead.

hi, sorry if off this topic, but when the iphone wakes up, using a display in general (I not it doesn't work with the braillenote touch, but it does the new brailliant) how do I get the phone to ask for the passcode, as it just shows me the time, the camera button, the torch, and the word "locking" I have an iphone 11, but thought I could keep the phone out of sight, and unlock it without face ID
