Microphone unmuting during online classes and VO magic tap gesture

Hi all,
Since all of my classes are online (using WebX, Zoom, etc) this semester, I noticed one problem is that, at times, my mic would be unmuted without me knowing it. I think this happened to me around once or twice, possibly even more.
So, I have a question, Does VO magic tap gesture unmutes my mic, even though I'm inside another app, especially when I try to use dictation? If so, is there a way that I can use dictation without having my mic in the online class being unmuted?

Happens to me, too, and I know I don't use the magic tap because you lose a few seconds of audio if you do.

So how did you use dictation, did you just double-tap on the dictate button, instead of using the magic tap gesture?
Also if you activated dictation via the dictate button, will it still turn on the mic in the online classroom?

I don't know how dictation came into this. I thought you were talking about muting/unmuting.

Yes, I was talking about muting/unmuting, but I also wonder whether using dictation itself would somehow unmute my mic in the online class sessions, especially if I just double-tap on the dictate button instead of using VO's magic tap gesture.

I dun' tknow if you are aloud to do this, but the next time you get to class early can you ask one of the class mates to listen while you do it and let you know if you are unmuted?

Hi,when you are find in Zoom call you can't use Dictation because your Mic use on the Zoom app. Those some of from the leamitationsof ios.

That's true, but I found that in WebX I can still use dictation.
So that makes me wonder, if I use dictation while a WebX session is going on, would dictation unmutes my mic in WebX as well?

It might. I would be careful, or play wiht it when a student is around. Or get a usb keyboard and plug that into your phone for easier typing.

In the past, whenever I had a class held over WebX I also used dictation when I'm replying to chat messages from other apps and since no one raised the issue of my mic being unmuted, I thought that everything was fine until I think the last online session or two that I noticed that my mic was unmuted without me knowing it.
So maybe for now I might just resort to using my computer when participating in online live sessions...
