The Jamstik Studio is a fully functional guitar with a built-in midi pickup!Believe it or not, I saw this product just over a year ago inside a Facebook add. I kept track of it and was able to purchase the Studio Midi guitar recently! I am posting this up at Apple Vis, as accessibility to the guitars settings comes to us as blind users through the Jamstik Portal iOS app.

And as a lot of us will use Logic on the Mac or Garageband as our DAW of choice, both Apple products.

Seems nice
I like the idea of having different tones with the guitar. But I wonder how useful it might be for playing stuff, I mean, you don't play piano chords the way you play guitar chords.
Hey thanks for reading and…
Hey thanks for reading and listening. You are correct that the way you play a piano is different than the way you would play guitar, this is part of the art of this instrument, and I feel using midi whether it’s a keyboard controller or a guitar controller you have to learn the art of playing each instrument that you were actually playing. Yes I definitely feel that this guitar is very beneficial.
Very cool!
Thanks Drew for posting this.
I looked at Jamstik several years ago but gave up on them because the guitar was very tiny at that time.
It's great to hear they now ship with a full-size neck.
One of the biggest concerns for me is the lack of access for modifying string and MIDI pickup settings. You mentioned some were actullly modifiable via the iOS app, that's a good news!
I'm currently using ′or trying to use to the best of my ability′ Fishman's Tripleplay pickup. It's important to be able to change MIDI settings such as pitch band range, because different software instruments respond differently to the MIDI pickup signal.
I'd love to connect with you off-line so that we can share some experiences.
Thanks again!

Absolutely
Hey Vic, thanks for reading and for the listen! Definitely feel free to connect with me via email if you’d like, drew at weber-air.com
amazing!! Question
Hi,
After hearing the audio demo, it sounded amazing! question: what app did you used to record the audio demo? it sounds like you used the Hooke Verse and the Hooke Audio app, correct?
Voice memos and Sennheiser's Smart MBO headset
JC, thanks for the listen. It is definitely an amazing instrument! I did not use the Verse from Hookeaudio, but rather, Sennheiser's Smart ambio headset, which is a wired by neural solution for iOS devices.
very cool man
Very cool man. it looks like a very awesome instrument. But is it easy to learn?
Seems simple
You're just playing guitar like always but the sounds are different. I guess the midi cables and stuff is a bit trickier, nothing impossible if you're familiar with electric instruments though.
I've heard of another type of guitar that does this very well de
This was an excellent demo looking forward to other audio demonstrations where am I able to find these? I have heard of a different guitar that does this as well I can't think of the name of it but it is similar to this one. I don't think that it is a full guitar with strings, at least like this one is, but I think it does work as a mini controller. It just is not a standard guitar and other words of the strings do not make sound unless they are plugged into the daw. I loved the pipe organ. I can't wait to try that out if I get one of these. You could play all that stuff and then add some super low notes in the pipe organ as an over tub and it would sound awesome. Logic really does have a ton of instruments that you can use and that is one of the things I love about it. Right now I have a GR 33 pick up, but it is not able to be used in logic this way it Hass to run through the GR 33 and the GK to pick up.
okay so I'm not a guitarist…
okay so I'm not a guitarist.. I saw one for the first time last year I think.. im not sure.
but my curious mind wanted to listen to the demo and it was so amazing!
I loved the audio! it was so crisp and clean!
Thank you
@ Edward Alonzo thank you for the comments. If I create any more of these types of demos I will definitely bring them to Apple Vis. I have also heard of instruments that are shaped and play like guitars without real strings, I have not been truly interested in those as they are not a real string guitar. What really interested me about this, was everything comes in one package and it’s all built-in for in my opinion a decent price! Street price of $799. yes, I have done some overdubs and it is awesome what you’re able to do :-)
@ Khushi: thank you for the kind words. I always do my best to have decent sound quality for the demos that I release. Thank you all for listening :-)
recording
do you have any recording in which you used this guitar that you can share?
examples that I’ve created
Absolutely, please note that any percussion part was played out on a standard keyboard mini controller and all other instrumentation was played on the studio midi guitar
This was recorded into logic using software instruments.

nice sounds
you play very well and logic has some good midi instruments.
expensive, but worth it.
Wow!! that's expensive, but well worth it. still, very awesome instrument. I cannot wait to hear more audio demos as soon as you post them.
Thanks
Thank you both!
Felt guitar picks
One thing I notice is ghost notes, as I had mentioned in the demo, that due to picking there may be notes captured that you’re not actually playing. I wondered what felt pics would accomplish if they would deadin these ghost notes at all? I ordered some earlier this week and they’ve got in today, yes, I can tell I would say, a 70 to 80% difference, less gohst notes. I have a set a flat wound electric guitar strings 10 gauge coming in tomorrow, I will let you know how those work in anymore correction of bad notes. The felt pics that I got are, Honbay 9pcs Felt Picks.
