Hey everyone! Just thought I'd let you know we've got a new game launching in a few weeks, final launch date TBC. It's one we're really excited about, we don't want to give too much away but it features a couple of mechanics that will show up in A Dusklight Story too. With game play that'll give you a little taste of what to expect from that.

In it you play a detective searching for his missing love, whilst battling crooks on the mean streets of District 5, all a few hundred years after A Dusklight Story is set. The first trailer just launched which'll give you a good idea of the tone. We'll be following this up with a couple more trailers and a little gameplay walk-through from Connor prior to release. As with all our games, it'll be available on PC, Mac, iOS and Android and on sale for $3.99.

EDIT: The game is OUT NOW! You can find it on the iOS store here: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/a-detectives-demise/id1537231967

All the best

Hey. I am so excited. I was looking for a shooting game.

This sounds very nice I will be sure to play it when it comes out, and I will also do a demonstration of it on my podcast.

By ming on Friday, August 28, 2020 - 09:01

can't wait for this...
does it has any battle or action thing?

By Dennis Long on Friday, August 28, 2020 - 09:01

is it $5 for every platform? Or if I want it on the PC is it $5 and $5 for the phone as well?

By Harry on Friday, August 28, 2020 - 09:01

Hey! Yep, there certainly are some short action sequences in the game, an yep, it'll be $4.99 on every platform.

Hello,
Is this the full game or is there another portion? If so, how can I download an use the earlier bit, so I don't miss anything? I'm guessing it's all audio-based, and no VoiceOver is needed here? Why can't it be free for the first little while like Untold RPG? I would think that'd be much more affordable … for me, at least/five bucks seems a little high if you don't like the game/don't think it's as good as it sounds.

By Ashleigh Piccinino on Friday, August 28, 2020 - 09:01

Hello,
I can't find this thing, A Dusklight Story. It's not on the App Store? I don't plan on getting games on my PC/used for work and school stuff, you know. Anyway, is that the only model of A Dusklight Story? If so, will I be completely lost whn it comes to the IOS game? Please help here as it sounds interesting--if it's not too much money. even if it is, I'll try playing when I can afford it

By David Standen on Friday, August 28, 2020 - 09:01

The game hasn't been released yet. Personally, I think $5.00 for a game is quite reasonable. I personally will be purchasing the Mac version.

By Remy on Friday, August 28, 2020 - 09:01

I remember the initial concept for Dusklight a while ago and enjoyed the idea. I imagine this will be interesting too. The trailer doesn't really convey a lot, either narratively or gameplay wise, so I look forward to another trailer in the future.

I'm just curious, what was Dusklight about? I still can't find it on the app store and wonder if it should be played before the new game? How can I reach the trailer for this one?

By Matthew Whitaker on Friday, August 28, 2020 - 09:01

Wow! Sounds really good. Can't wait to try it out when it's released. Congrats on what you guys have accomplished. :-)

By Remy on Friday, August 28, 2020 - 09:01

I don't recall exactly what it was about, but it was much more elaborate sounding than most of the audio games around. It's not out yet in any case, but there is a free demo you can try. Plus the aforementioned videos.

It's depressing that these games, at least A Dusklight Story, isn't available on the App store any longer. I would've liked to play the mobile version, and if the PC version didn't take up so much ram and things, I would've liked that too. It sounded cool through the videos, and did you notice that some of the characters seemed to be voice-acted by those people who worked in A Blind Legend. At least, that's how the drunk man sounded to me anyway, so … I'd still like to know where the demo is of this new game and how to access the full Dusklight Story if possible. Did anyone here actually play that game before it went belly up? Did it actually do so, and that's why it's no longer talked about/on the App store for IOS

Hi there everybody! Just wanted to let you all know the game 'A Detective's Demise' is out now! We're really excited about this one, and I hope you all enjoy it.

You can find it on the iOS store here: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/a-detectives-demise/id1537231967

P.S. To clear up any confusion, A Dusklight Story is still very much in development. You can keep track of development over on our YouTube channel: https://youtu.be/QpoPdU5oNzc

By DMNagel on Saturday, November 28, 2020 - 09:01

Thanks for making this game. I'm sure it will be a nice one.

By Grace Amodeo on Saturday, November 28, 2020 - 09:01

Okay, so I just downloaded the game. It seems pretty cool, but I'm having a hard time dodging gunshots. I know it says press right to dodge left and vise versa. Sometimes I get it to work, but sometimes it just doesn't. Do I activate the joystick and drag my finger to the direction where I want to dodge, or press the left or right side of the screen? I hear the noise made to indicate that I've activated the dodge feature, but I seem to be doing something different every time. It's confusing.

By Grace Amodeo on Saturday, November 28, 2020 - 09:01

I also forgot to mention, when I'm at the intro, the guy asks if I want to try practicing dodging again. How do I say yes to that?

By roman on Saturday, November 28, 2020 - 09:01

Hey harry! First of all, thanks for making this game. I hope I can dawge the gun-shots. can you give us some tips? thanks.

By DMNagel on Saturday, November 28, 2020 - 09:01

In reply to by Grace Amodeo

Right now, it appears that you need to dodge exactly in the direction the ting sounds are coming from. simply swipe in the direction of the ting sounds.

I have just downloaded this game and I must say I do like it however I played it and completed it within approximately five minutes I hope there is more to the game in the near future thanks for making it accessible

By KE7ZUM on Saturday, November 28, 2020 - 09:01

and that's the thing. Most of these games are blind legend clones where you have up down left right. I want something hard and complex for iOs. These blind games are too simplistic for me.

By Erick on Saturday, November 28, 2020 - 09:01

This is similar to a blind legend. I definitely think of the combat should be the same as the open world walking and stuff.

By DMNagel on Saturday, November 28, 2020 - 09:01

I truly believe that we should be allowed to skip dialogues. It's just a little frustrating to wait through a certain tune or anything you've heard before. Other than that, I'm cool.

By Harry on Saturday, November 28, 2020 - 09:01

Hey everybody!

Thanks so much for your feedback! And thanks so much for picking up the game! It means the world to us and it's been our most successful release so far.

For those who want a Mac version, we're looking into uploading directly to the app store this time to stop some compatibility issues we've faced with previous MacOS releases.

The next update for the game will be improving a lot of behind-the-scenes structural stuff to let those with older devices be able to play the game as intended.

Thanks again for all of your support.

Hi is the game just a very short one because I can get the two boss’ but that’s it after that or is this something else I’m missing

By Harry on Saturday, November 28, 2020 - 09:01

Hi there!

Just thought I'd pop by and answer your question. There are more definitely future episodes in the works :).

Hello,
will the new episodes play on the ones already done? that is, will the game just continu after the first episode here? or will we have to keep buying them? I think that's going to cost some headaches for those of us who don't have very much money on our cards--of course, for those people who do not, that is. also, will the Dusklight Story be available in full one day for iOS? I'd like to try that one as well.
Thanks and I hope that Ma'dam Corona hasn't burst your bubble yet/made you sick ha ha!

I'm not sure when the first episode really completes. I've killed all the bad guys, including Rex--at lest, I've incopassitated them. however, I'm not sure when the episode ends, because it sound like I get tazed or something and died, I guess. there should be more to the tutorial than just what we have now, and I don't see a chapter 1 anywhere, so I guess this is it? please help me understand. Also, how to get Denis or whatever they're called. why are they called that anyway?

By Harry on Saturday, November 28, 2020 - 09:01

Hi everyone!

Just thought I'd drop in and answer some more questions.

The game does indeed end on a cliff hanger, with the Detective getting taken down by one of the villains.

Deni's are the currency in the world, and you can't collect them in this game.

Future episodes will cost the same or slightly more, but will be substantially longer than this game and incorporate all the feedback. We're also looking to continue to update this game with a new fighting mechanic as we develop it, so be sure to check for updates.

I think that's just a bit wrong, having to pay for future episodes. Why cn't it be like it was with the Untold RPG, where you pay for the whole game after a bit of free play? I think episodes of this game should be added onto the one you're already playing, don't you? that'll get pretty expensive if there's like 10 or so more episodes. I have no problem with the fighting system, as long as you're fast enough to dodge out o the way. I guess we keep this first episode or drop it after playing? it's good that Apple remembers what games you've purchased, so ...

Hey.I understand where you are coming from. it is kind of expensive, and the future episodes will take a lot of space in our phones. I think they should update the game with all episodes.

By KE7ZUM on Saturday, November 28, 2020 - 09:01

I want a fighting method that is hard, what I mean by that is I'm a mainstream gamer, and I can't stand when things are in rhythm. like when you hear the pitch get to a serten one, or after this many seconds then you hit. Uh, no. that is way too easy and is a misnomer for audio fighting games. one grate example is audio wizards which I need to play again.
the fight also needs to be fast even on hard. the enemy can't teligraph his or her movements to the player. Make sense?

By KE7ZUM on Saturday, November 28, 2020 - 09:01

Actually I was thinking more along the lines of mk11 and that fight engine, now that would be a challenge to do on the iPhone. I'm sure doable though. Anything is possible if you think outside the box.

By Samuel J on Saturday, November 28, 2020 - 09:01

Totally agree with the comments above. Getting charged by the episode is going to get expensive and will personally discourage me quite a bit actually. That type of a pricing model just doesn't sit well with me. My opinion, but there wasn't enough content in this particular episode to have a $3.99 price tag. The tutorial wasn't sufficient, there was no good way to figure out where the actual path is, etc. There's so much more that could be made better. I was expecting that since this was the start and there's more development on the way, at least we'd be getting more added to it, or at least further improvements would be made with future updates to justify the $3.99. Now, finding out that that's pretty much it for this episode and anything new is going to have an extra charge....not for me. Sure others can disagree with me, but I definitely haven't seen enough in this first episode to encourage me to spend more. I already don't think that the $3.99 was a good price for all that this episode had, and lacked.

By Harry on Saturday, November 28, 2020 - 09:01

Hey everybody!

Thanks so much for the feedback! I can confirm that we'll be updating the fighting mechanic for this game with something much more complex. Based on feedback, the majority of players think the current price is fair, however, we're dedicated to supporting all of our releases with updates and improvements. Audio Pong got a substantial update after release, the Sounds of Eden update is currently being worked on, and as I say, the update for this game will add a whole new, more complex fighting mechanic. I hope that goes someway to allaying some of your fears going forward.

As regards why we have to sell new episodes- this game took months to make, future games will take months to make, there is no possible way we can continue to make new games, and update our old games without selling them. We're passionate about every game we make, and audio games generally, but you must appreciate we have to feed ourselves some how, and as a games company, we do that with sales.

Its hard to make audio games.
And you don’t make lots of money for making it.
Look what happen to the games like papasangre etc.
And remember.
They need to pay voice actors to.//

By Remy on Monday, December 28, 2020 - 09:01

Mainstream games have been doing episodic releases since the mid 2000s. I'm not a huge fan of the structure either, but it does give the developers leigh way to create at a steadier pace and actually release content. It allows them to tayler the experience to the feedback they're given to hopefully make the next episode better. And it sounds like they are listening to feedback. Perhaps the next episode can be more involved, but considering how much the sighted world has to pay for games, 3.99 for this isn't too bad. Especially considering the time, effort, tools and talent which have to be implemented to create something like this.

By Ashleigh Piccinino on Monday, December 28, 2020 - 09:01

Hello,
I also agree that the new episode should be more involved. However, that’ll add to our memorydraining on our phones. I’ve removed the older ep, waiting for the new one.

By Ashleigh Piccinino on Sunday, February 28, 2021 - 09:01

Hello,
I'm still waiting for the next episode. I hope you can push Mad'am Corona out of your way to start working on this/finish it if it's already in the works. Fight her with your bare hands/swords/anything you have, if you have to!

By Ashleigh Piccinino on Sunday, February 28, 2021 - 09:01

When do you think the net episode will be out for this game? I don't really like that it ended on a teaser last time, so do you think we'll pick up where we left off?

By jim pickens on Friday, January 28, 2022 - 09:01

I have not seen any feedback
Any posts on Twitter
Any videos
Not even anything at all
What in hell is this supposed to be? Is it abandoned now?
