Problem with the ringer volume adjusting itself after it has been set.

I have found this to be an issue in iOS 14. Once you set the ringer volume to the appropriate level you want it at I have seen it go all the way back down to 0 I have already sent an email to accessibility. So that they would be aware of the issue.

I have had the problem occasionally. I usually reboot the phone when it starts to act up, which generally works. I started wondering if the setting under "sounds and haptics" really matters. And it doesn't seem to make a difference. I asked a couple of people to call me when the setting was at zero, and the ring was plenty loud. Interesting.

Regarding the volume issue with ringtones, what device are you using? I have an iPhone 11, running iOS 14.1, that has never exhibited this issue. In case anyone is curious, I have my change with buttons setting disabled.

Like Skippy, I too have an iPhone 11 running iOS14.1, but sadly have also been encountering this lowering of the ringer volume bug.

I actually used to have this issue back with iOS 13, but no one else seemed to have it as well. But since iOS 14, many others are encountering this too, so hopefully it gets fixed in a future update.

Although I find with 14.1, it seems to occur less frequently, but it still occurs at least once or twice a day. I was actually thinking of testing to see if calls and text messages were to still come through if the volume was at 0%, but it appears that they still do. Although I've known friends who noticed that their alert and ringtones stopped playing, and after hearing my suggestion, noticed that their ringer volume had also lowered to 0%, so not sure really whether or not tones still play if the ringer volume is lowered.

I have heard from a friend, that is on the developer beta, that it appears that this seems to be fixed in the beta of iOS 14.2, so here's hoping that when 14.2 is released to the masses, that this long lasting bug is finally squashed.

I have an iPhone XR. I've been trying to figure out what triggers it. I've experienced the volume dropping to zero after I plug in the phone for charging. I've also seen it happen after I plug in my wired headphones. I've seen it drop to zero in the evening all by itself, as if it's controlled by an AI that knows I sometimes turn the volume to zero at night. But I've also seen it turn itself to zero in the mornings as well, which rather contradicts that AI hypothesis.

I normally set the volume at 60. Sometimes it sets itself to 40, but this is rare. Usually it sets itself to zero. I've experimented with leaving it set at zero, and occasionally it sets itself back to 60.

In short, there is no rhyme or reason for this behavior that I can divine. I hope it's fixed soon

I had the exact same issue on my XR when running iOS 14.0 and 14.1.
14.2 seems to have fixed it for me though.
I have set my ringer volume to 50% and I have not experienced it adjusting by itself after upgrading to 14.2.
