OUr school system has asked that we move all music from itunes t an external hard drive. How do I go about doing this? Is there a way to have them organized by album or playlist? Thanks.
Hello Soni. Since I just purchased a new solid state hard drive computer a couple of months ago, with a hard drive that is much smaller than I wanted, I needed to use iTunes via an external hard drive, as well. After searching the internet, I found two great how to articles, written by Sam costello, who guides you step-by-stetp in taking care of this. After everything is finished, you have the iTunes app on your pC hard drive. When you want to use iTunes, you first plug in your external hard drive and then open iTunes from the app on the PC. Everything works just as you would hope that it would.
Below you will find the two links for the articles that I followed. If it doesn't work by clicking on it, then just copy and paste it into your browser.
The only way I know how to do this is to select the album you want to make a copy of, and then go under the file menu. I can't recall exactly what the selection is, but it's a submenu which is pretty obvious. In that sub menu there's a convert to MP3 option. I don't actually know if you can select more than one album at a time. Hopefully someone else comes with greater knowledge since doing it this way is time consuming. I also don't know if you can do this with music you've actually purchased via iTunes.
