Apple has today released tvOS 14, bringing what at best can be described as small, incremental changes for the Apple TV.
For gamers, tvOS 14 brings quick game resume with multi-user support, similar to features on the PS4 and Xbox One, that let you jump right back into a game where you left off, and new support for the Xbox Elite Series 2 and Xbox Adaptive Controllers.
Picture-in-picture support has been expanded as well. Now users can use fitness apps while watching live TV or use picture-in-picture videos shared across AirPlay.
The only other notable changes in tvOS 14 are support for 4K YouTube videos, a new Home app for HomeKit, and AirPods audio sharing.
We have not been able to test tvOS 14 ahead of its public release, so have not yet been able to explore its new features or check for any changes which will affect blind or low vision users.
We'll update this post if anything of note is discovered or shared. To this end, please add a comment below to let us know of any additional changes, improvements or regressions that you find during your own use of tvOS 14.
To install tvOS 14 on Apple TV 4K or Apple TV HD, go to the Settings channel, then look for the System section near the bottom. From here, look for Software Updates under Maintenance, then select Update Software and Download and Install.
More information on how to update the software on your Apple TV is available on this Apple Support page.
As always, we look forward to hearing your thoughts on this update. What do you like? What do you not like? Or are you simply disappointed that tvOS 14 brings nothing to like or dislike? Let us know by adding a comment below.

New Voiceover feature
I installed tv OS 14 on my Apple TV Fourth Gen last evening. It appears there are now two modes to navigate with Voiceover. These can be switched with a two finger triple tap. These two modes are navigation and explore. I haven't played with this extensively, but I did note that the rotor options changed based on the selected mode.
I'll post more info once I use this a bit.
Thanks.
Jim
