Is anyone else seeing the Mac Mail app incorrectly removing all emails from the inbox of a GMail accounts?
I recently upgraded to MacOS 10.15.7. I don't know if this upgrade came with a new version of the Mail app, but my Mail app version is 13.4 (3608.120.23.2.4).
Before stepping away from my MacBook this morning, I put it to sleep. I came back about five minutes later, and when I woke it, I discovered it had crashed and rebooted. (This happens occasionally, and I find that clearing the NVRAM helps, so perhaps it's due for that again.)
But here's the real problem: After I logged back in, I launched my Mail app, and much to my surprise, the inbox was completely empty. The emails were not deleted, they were simply moved out of my inbox. I use Gmail, and found my emails in the "All Mail" folder that Google provides.
Because I use my inbox to store mails that I hope to take action on, some emails are a few months old. While I'm glad they weren't deleted outright, I'm unlikely to look through the thousands of emails in my All Mail folder, find the few that had been in my inbox, and move them back. They're as good as gone, as far as I'm concerned.
Anyone else seeing this incorrect behavior?

Patience. Lots of patience
After posting this, I discovered it wasn't just my inbox. Every custom folder I had created for my Google Mail account had been cleared.
Frustrated, I shut down my computer and rebooted. The mail app again showed empty folders, but after about ten minutes, all the folders were correctly populated with emails. It's as if I hallucinated the whole event.
I checked, and my wi-fi and internet connection are not the problem. I have no explanation for why the current Mail app is so sluggish at updating the contents of folders.
If you are going crazy, that makes two of us
I had the exact same experience as your two posts describe about a week or two ago. After it self-corrected over a half hour, I just chalked it up to the tech gremlins. VERY WEIRD!
