Just a week after the release of iOS 14.0 to the public, Apple has today released iOS 14.0.1. This appears to be a bug fix release to address a small number of issues introduced in 14.0; including one where changing your default email client or web browser would be reset when you restarted your device.

As we have not had the opportunity to test iOS 14.0.1 ahead of today's release, we are unaware at this time if it brings any fixes to the issues for VoiceOver, low vision, and braille users that were introduced in iOS 14.0. If we learn of any, we will update this post. If you identify any fixes, enhancements, or regressions in your own use of iOS 14.1, please let us know by adding a comment below.

Here are Apple's full release notes for today’s iOS 14.0.1 update:

  • Fixes an issue that could cause default browser and mail settings to reset after restarting your iPhone
  • Addresses an issue that could prevent camera previews from displaying on iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus
  • Fixes an issue that could prevent your iPhone from connecting to Wi-Fi networks
  • Resolves an issue that could prevent sending email with some mail providers
  • Addresses an issue that could prevent images from appearing in the News widget

Apple has also today released iPadOS 14.0.1, watchOS 7.0.1, macOS Catalina 10.15.7, and tvOS 14.0.1.

The release notes for macOS Catalina 10.15.7 state that it includes the following changes:

  • Resolves an issue where macOS would not automatically connect to Wi-Fi networks
  • Fixes an issue that could prevent files syncing through ‌iCloud Drive‌
  • Addresses a graphic issue that may occur on ‌iMac‌ (Retina 5K, 27-inch, 2020) with Radeon Pro 5700 XT

Again, we will update this post if any fixes, enhancements, or regressions for blind and low vision users are discovered. Please let us know if you identify any during your own testing.

iOS 14.0.1 and iPadOS 14.0.1 are available via Over-the-Air Update (Settings > General > Software Update) via Finder on a Mac with macOS Catalina or later, or via iTunes on a PC or Mac with macOS Mojave or earlier.

macOS Catalina 10.15.7 can be downloaded by going to System Preferences > Software Update.

hi
in IOS 14.0, I'm unable to set Gmail as my default email app.
can it be done in IOS 14.1.?
I don't use the native mail app in IOS. used it for a few days when my phone came and it was not notifying me so I switched to gmail.

Hi. I appreciate that different phones, configurations et cetera may impact, but has the focus jumping issue been fixed? After seeing a comment on here at the release of iOS 14.0, and how bad some people were having that issue, I didn’t upgrade. I’m keen to do so, if only so I can have my AirPods switch to the device I am using at the time, but this isn’t as urgent as as making sure that when I upgrade, my phone works properly.

Hi,
In iOS 14, there is a VoiceOver bug in regards to punctuation. If the iPhone is set to speak all or no punctuation, it will speak everything. A friend of mine has noticed this problem and Apple are also aware of this, with a fix on the way. The same also applies to the focus issue.

A family member has told me that VoiceOver responsiveness improved after updating to iOS 14.0.1 on his iPhone XR. I am still on 13.7 and I do not wish to update until this issue has been resolved. Can anyone confirm this or does this issue still persist?

Yeah I don't have any updates as of yet, and I'm a beta tester with 14.0. I heard that 14.2 got pulled for most devices, so I guess we'll see what happens.

In the past, whenever I sent a article or whatever to a group of people, they show up but now I have to select message, and ad each person. Before I just slide and the group of people was there and just selected and send. Is this a bug?

hey all
sorry for going off topic but since I commented here I thought I'd update you here..

I just updated my gmail app. and in version 6.0.200826 you can make Gmail default app on IOS 14.0.1
