Hi all,
Not sure if this has been already covered in another thread, so I thought I'd post about this.
I have an iPhone 10 R, which I have recently updated to iOS 14. One thing I have noticed is how quickly my battery life seems to be going down. I was using my phone like I usually do, and when usually my phone battery is around the 24% level around the late evening, it's currently 4pm and my phone is at 24%.
My question is, has anyone else noticed this?

Not really
Hi, No not really. I have iPhone 11. Now after installing the first morning after my phone instead of being at 100% which it has always been (not charging overnight) since I got it I decided to do a hard reset. Since then I'm back to 100% in the morning.
Battery drain
Although I haven't quantified it, it does seem like the battery has been draining more quickly after updating to iOS 14. This seems to happen for many users after updating to various versions of iOS. Then Apple seems to address the problem and people stop complaining.
For me I haven't noticed battery drain issues after previous updates, but iOS 14 does seem to be pulling down the battery for me.
I wonder if it has something to do with the new widgets that might be polling the system frequently to update their display info. Don't know, but having the widgets that display current info is a new thing.

Battery life iPhone XR iOS 14
I have an iPhone XR I’m noticing the exact same thing! My battery life is terrible since the update I have my brightness turn down and my screen curtain on I don’t know how to fix it.
Apple's suggestion
I was looking through the battery health section of settings, and under suggestions all I saw is that apparently I'm using my phone more than usual since I updated my iOS. I have used my phone the same as I usually would so I do not see what they mean by that, but it seems to be an iPhone 10 R issue I believe.
Low Battery
I noticed my battery has been draining but I thought it was because I had an older phone. I'll look over the time usage.
not really
hi
I have an Iphone 6s and I'm not facing any battery issues. I was facing it in IOS 13 though, sometimes.
as it is my phone's battery is small but those with bigger batteries cost way too much so I always turn on the low power mode. yes without it I can't last a whole day.. the battery is low after 8 in the evening but I suspect it's because of the small battery and for some reason my battery health shows 90% though the phone is just over an year old which worries me sometimes.
RE: not really
The iPhone 6S batteries were under a recall, due to poor performance, but this ended a year ago, in December, I think. You can still get the battery replaced, but you won't get the discount on it. I was going to do the recall on my 6S but decided to purchase a new phone because the 6S is nearing the end of life cycle for OS software updates anyway.
HTH
I have no problem.
Hello. I have the iPhone xr and after the ios 14 update I have no battery issues and the draining is as usual.
I've noticed a significant battery drain.
I'm using my phone the same as usual, so I'm puzzled.I hope this sorts itself out soon.
No problem
I have got an iPhone 11 which is only a week old and I haven't noticed any issues with the latest version of IOS draining my battery. I usually have around 50% battery left at the end of each day. The screen curtain doesn't actually save battery life as it's a feature of Voice-over and not a battery saving feature of the phone itself.
Battery Drain On iOS 14
I have an iPhone 8 and updated to iOS 14 when it was released. I'm a light-ish user, (my battery usage wasn't too bad before I updated) but I do notice that iOS 14 is increasing batter drain by a little. It isn't too bad and doesn't affect me that much, but it's still a problem that should be solved soon. I think that the screen recognition feaure is what's sucking batery life but I'm not so sure.
My battery life is horrible
Hi,
I have an iPhone 11, with around 91% battery capacity, & I had to plug my iPhone in earlier.
I certainly hope they fix it very soon.
Battery life is good on my end
Hi,
Battery life is good on my end. I’m able to go a full day with no problems. I charge at night on the wireless charging pad, which works fine on my iPhone 11. If you don’t have a wireless charging pad, do yourselves a favor and purchase yourself a wireless charging pad. I got one for Christmas of last year, thanks to my brother.
hey thanks :) I bought it in…
hey
thanks :)
I bought it in May 2019 and apple products in India are quite costly. I don't want to and can't change my phone right now as the phones with a bigger batteries cost way too much.
I never knew about a recall or else I'd have purchased 7 or 8. I was considering them but then left them because of the no headphone jack but it wouldn't have made a difference to me now when I look back.
anyway, after turning on the low power mode my battery lasts me so I'll keep the same device. also I don't know whether this would have been the case in India too. though finally we got the online apple store here!
wow!
everything comes late here but I'm glad the online store came here with I hope every feature which is there in countries like USA and UK. sorry I went off topic :)
I restarted my phone last…
I restarted my phone last night, it took a while before Voiceover started working normally, but now my battery is back to normal.
Too am noticing it, in fact…
Too am noticing it, in fact while I was beta testing ios 24 my battery health dropped from 98 percent to 84 in about 2-3 months. Now that it is out fo reveryyone I can say I don't notice much of a difference anymore. Also check to see yoru brightness is really at 0 by going into the control center. You will be surprised to find that sometimes it changes at random and it is not.
Dark mode
Also make sure dark mode is on. That helps.
I've also got a XR, and I'm…
I've also got a XR, and I'm just noticing that my battery life has been horrible on iOS14. I don't see any apps using an unusually high percentage in battery settings, but battery health says that my battery is is signifficantly degraded and recommends replacement, but it says it's at 93% capacity. Anyone else seeing this? It has me considering just getting a new battery instead of one of the new phones. It'd be a heck of a lot cheaper. lol
I also see the location services thing in status bar all the time since upgrading to 14, and it wasn't there all the time before that. Anyone know if anything in 14 uses your location more than before? Perhaps that could be contributing to the noticeable drop in battery life. I have to charge my phone by the middle of the day, just like I did with my first gen SE.
Battery Life Fix
I have an iPhone 11, and the battery was dropping in crazy ways since updating. I'm a very heavy user, but I was watching it drop 20-40% in a single hour, which was insane. I backed it up, erased it, and restored from the iCloud backup, and the problem was resolved. I know it's a bit of an inconvenience, but it definitely worked. Hope this helps someone!
