Hi
I was wondering if two-factor authentication is required in iOS 14. It seems that I can’t turn it off.
Thank you

I believe that 2-factor authentication has been around for a few versions now. I seem to recall having to enable it back during iOS 12, possibly iOS 11.

At first, I kind of hated it and found it annoying and was like... "Something else Apple thinks I should use", but honestly, after I've enabled it, have changed my mind about it.

It might be a bit of a pain when trying to log into your account on the web, or when adding a new device to your Apple ID, but it makes it that much harder for others to just log into your account, if they should ever get their hands on your account credentials.

I've grown to like it so much that I've even enabled it on many other accounts online, if they offer it, but I'm using a third-party authentication app and not getting my codes via text message, which is much more secure.

You aren't required to set up two factor authentication if you don't want to, but once it is set up there is no way to disable it, presumably for security reasons. This has been true for a few years now.

It is my understanding that you can turn it off within 14 days of enabling it unless that’s changed. I have an extremely hard time using the keypad, so I know the two factor authentication process is going to cause major issues for me. I plan to keep it off as lang as I am able.
