Voice control no longer speaks voiceover

Please let me know if anyone else has come across this problem.
I use voice control to navigate my phone before bed and for some reason a couple nights ago it stopped saying any commands?
Like I give it a command and it makes the switching or clicking sounds but doesn’t say any of my voiceover screen words…

Is this because of an update? I’d like to be able to keep my routine every evening but with this problem there is absolutely no way to get around it.
I’ve searched Google, and I’ve went through every single command in the voice control settings to try and figure anything out… Unfortunately I’ve had no luck.
If any of you get a chance to give it a try please let me know how it goes!

Edited two add a few more details:
When voice control is on, if I touch the screen voiceover will say what it should like usual. But then if I ask voice control to swipe right it makes the swishing sound but no voice over titles.
When I switch voice control off everything still works like normal with voice over.
I still have some light vision so I noticed when I give voice control a command on the home screen like swipe right, the entire page moves! It is like voice control is active without voiceover or that it turns one off at a time?
I’m not sure if I explained it right or if it makes no sense at all ha ha.
Hope this is helpful!

Did you update to iOS 13.4?

Yesterday evening I did update to the latest iOS version. However I only did this to try and fix my issue.
This problem started a couple days ago, everything worked fine in the morning and when I went to do my usual nightly routine everything just didn’t work.
Figured I didn’t have anything to lose with trying out the new update but sadly it didn’t seem to fix it

I have just enabled voice control on my ipad running the most up-to-date version of ios and am experienceing the same issue where items are not being read when giving swipe commands. I just wondered if you managed to resolve this issue?

There is still no voice over when I give voice control commands.
However I do have a really roundabout way to at least get my book to play.
Before going to bed, I open up my dolphin easy reader app and open up my book. Then once I’m ready I can turn on voice control and say which buttons I need. I’ve memorized them
So I would say tap book options
Tap sleep timer
Tap 15 minutes
And then finally tap play
Once my time is done that I just say lock the screen but yeah it’s a really complicated not fix

I used to be able to place voiceover focus on an item and then say something like “swipe right” and the voiceover focus would move to the next item and voiceover would speak it. At that point I could say “double tap,” and the item where VoiceOver focus was would open. Except for the problem of not being able to write into edit fields while voiceover was on, I thought this held a great deal of potential for people who need to use voiceover but do not have good fine motor skills and cannot complete voiceover gestures. Now when I say “swipe right,” either nothing happens at all or spotlight opens and I have to say “go home,” to close it. If I touch something like messages once with one finger to put focus there then say “double tap,” nothing happens where it used to open. I used to be able to say “swipe right,” until I got to the item I wanted to open then say “double tap,” and the item that had gained focus when I said “swipe right” would open. what happened? Voice control has become absolutely unusable for blind people with tremors. Come on Apple!
Is anyone using the beta of iOS 14 working with VoiceOver and Voice Control? I’ve heard they are supposed to enhance it so if anyone who is beta testing could check this out that would be great. Thanks.

I too was very excited to see the potential of using voice control with VoiceOver. I am a legally blind AT specialist and I have many clients who are losing their vision and have other difficulties with motor function. Having the two features work together would have been a game changer for a lot of hose clients. I was disappointed to find that the two don't work together at all anymore. I'm beta testing IOS 14 but the two still ignore each other. Very sad.

This is what happened when I tried writing a comment while voice control was turned on:
Whenever you say, “whenever you say, "voiceover selectWhenever you say, “voiceover select items“, meaning voiceover select this or that, voiceover will speak the items selected once it has been selected. Item", meaning voiceover select the

Has anyone tried the overlay or overlay or grid system yet? Perhaps it will speak when you navigate the grid. Navigate the grid.

Hi. Are any of you using Voice Control with earbuds? I'm asking because I have tried out VC both with and without my earbuds when I had them. VC seems to work better with earbuds or some other type of earphones, because then the speech from VoiceOver won't interfere with anything. I think what's happening here is that Voice Control is confused by VoiceOver's speech, when not used with earphones. I tried this on my phone and Mac, and got the same results. I don't have those earbuds with me and am asking for new ones for Christmas, because the ones I got are falling apart. I obtained them from a downstairs neighbor not long after he moved into the building a little over 3 years ago. I hope this all makes sense.

I can say that the grid system works well, though I need to use it more.

I've even used Voice Control without issues when speaking normally at a comfortable level.
