Hi everyone,

We’re so grateful for all the encouragement and feedback we’ve gotten about our fitness app Jumpy Cat. We’ve worked hard over the past couple of weeks to release the detailed voice guidance that a lot of you requested. You can switch from the basic voice guidance to the detailed voice guidance by simply going to the More tab.

My previous post here:
https://applevis.com/forum/ios-ipados/jumpy-cat-free-inclusive-fitness-coach-app-designs-personalised-workouts
and you can download from the App store here:
https://apps.apple.com/us/app/id1519669458

We’d be so happy if the app inspires you on your fitness journey, especially in these strange times when we could all use a bit of positivity. We’re hoping we can create an inclusive fitness community where people can work together to stay healthy and happy.

Be safe, and looking forward to hearing about your experience with the new app feature! The best way to reach me is via the App Store, as I won't have time to monitor this forum so often.

Thanks wholeheartedly again for all your support, from our tiny 2-developers team :)

I will give this a look, (or should I say a listen), in the near future, as I need to get myself into some better fitness habits. I am hoping this will help.

I just tested this out on one type of exercise. The descriptions are fairly minimal but they work well for me. They might not be enough for someone who’s not exercise much in the past but the effort to make this usable for most people is excellent

I think this is a definite step up from two weeks ago. I appreciate the descriptions.

So I think the next steps should be replacing the single TTS voice with one or more voice talents in order to make this app more believable. Also, we still need instrumental music in some form to set the pace. I don't want just a drum beat, but some instrumental music.

Bottom line: I think your foundation is strong, but using voice talent and adding music will give this app much more substance. Sure, it may cost, but I think it's worth the money. Thanks, and good luck.

Now I can use it perfectly. I wish we could change the voice speed.

I've noticed that the voice is a bit slow, and to me, stilted. That's why I've been arguing all along for voice talents, since they can pace the narrative as they go. That can't be done with these electronic voices. Once the rate is set, you can't change it. I don't know of any way to make the voice change on the fly through software. Plus, if the voice is server side, the rate is up to the developers.

That's why I think voice talent is the only way to make the prompts feel and sound organic. Maybe there's someone on this forum who can contact the developer and offer to record the prompts. Thanks.

I think it is important to be aware that these aren't well funded developers and though human voices would be a good thing to have as an alternative, it's way cheaper to have artificial voices doing this job.

That's a good point, but that's also why I've advised the developers to seek out sponsors and funds to help pay for the talents. Plus, if the developer decides to add music, there's the danger of the voice getting lost in the music.

Bottom line: I can't let this stand because in my view, the voice doesn't match the goals these people are aiming for.

I can understand these people are in the early stages, but in the long term, I can't let it stand. Thanks.
