A problem with voiceover selection on Mac High Sierra

So I am currently using mac os high Sierra. I have an older computer so I don't want to try updating further than that. Anyway I tried to select Samantha as my voiceover but whenever I do the voice that comes out is Alex. It says that it's Samantha though, and it doesn't happen with any other voices. I've tried deleting and redownloading the voice, but nothing works. If anyone has any ideas I would really appreciate it.
