Accessibility Comments

with the latest version the app works really well with voiceover. all buttons are labelled, you just need to pay attention during battles, because when your units get wounded, it's best to retreat to prevent losses.
during battles, the enemy is shown first.

VoiceOver Performance

VoiceOver reads all page elements.

Button Labeling

All buttons are clearly labeled.

Usability

The app is fully accessible with VoiceOver and is easy to navigate and use.

Other Comments

this game is full of surprises in the civilization genre. starts pretty easy, but later on you will need to manage many different resources, allocating workers to different jobs to get better gear, or to get a better army.
it's currently consuming most of my free time, I can really recommend it.
the in app purchase is not necessary to play, it'll help later on though, plus you'll support a great developer!
he added accessibility in two days and is currently getting feedback in the tread I made in the audiogames.net forum at
https://forum.audiogames.net/topic/35382/home-quest-hidle-adventure/
his name there is jan.cs in case you want to send feedback. there's also an email on his website.

My iPad automatically updated the game so I was not able to export the files unfortunately. But after I realized it was updated and tried to play, it saved and is working as normal again. Thanks so much for working hard to fix it! I am loving the game and I'm excited for what I'll continue to unlock as I play!!

Ok, so I have finished the game now. As far as ornaments go, no, the marshland mission is the end of the game. For ornaments you need to have a territory with gold, and have unlocked the building that makes them. You need to keep doing the resource missions in the world screen, and eventually they will offer up a unit type or a new building. In the end I had 5 settlements, and each had 5 barracks before I could take out the marshland mission. Even then I had to keep retreating to rest my troops and restock. I really enjoyed it, if I had any complaint it would be that it isn't really replayable because the mission path is so linear.

It was nice to see an accessible game with resource management, multiple building options, and different military units. For me something like civilization or heroes of might and magic were the gold standard for this type of thing from my sighted gaming days. If there was a next generation of the game, my future perfect would include:

* A grid map replacing the current world screen. The map is randomized, and has different terrain types and resources, and you can choose where to settle.
* You can obtain knowledge through conquest, but also through research, and find a balance between research, resource production, military might and expansion.
* More variation in the military units. They gain experience based on the amount of combat they have seen, and have different levels, green, seasoned, veteran and elite, with each level slightly buffing the stats.
* Establishing of trade routes and resource exchange, allowing for different playing styles and victory conditions. In civilization you could conquer the world (militaristic), Win the race to colonize space (knowledge) or run the united nations (diplomatic).

As is the case with these games, I am left wanting more, and in this case it may be more realistic given how well it was handled, and how easy the navigation was.

Great game, I received the update on Saturday. However is anyone else seeing this bug? My total army is out of sync with the actual army units. Is there a further bug fix coming it’s out by over 20 units so I’m having expensive battles. And it’s getting worse.

Hi. I have one farm, one farmer, one logger and no quarryman. I'm being told to increase my population to 10 but how I do this is anyone's guess. The quarryman doesn't seem to be available to me and I have no more free workers left. Any clues?

By Roxann Pollard on Monday, July 27, 2020 - 08:26

Hello Kerry. Have you gone to World and conducted a battle yet? This helps to unlock items. Also, in order to increase workers you have to build houses. In order to build houses, I think it says that you need wood and stone. If you only have one worker then assign him to either wood or stone in order to produce the house building items. Then reassign him back to farming ASAP, else you end up starving your worker. It's all about assigning and then reassigning your workers to the things you need and then conducting World battles so that you unlock things, and then training your Army, and round and round we go. LOL.

I don't know of these suggestions will completely solve your issues, but at least they should move you along in the game.

Hi roxanne, I figured this out. I thought that if i removed a worker I would lose him. However, as I've found out, you can simply assign and reassign as necessary. I think I might have gone a bit mad though. I've got 7 farms and an army of 27 and 22 occupants lol. Won my first battle though and training up an archer to go and win my next one.

I may have found another bug. I just won a battle for a new settlement location but usually when I get a new location there is a plus button to send settlers there. This time after I won the battle there was no plus button even after closing and reopening me up and waiting overnight.

Hi. I'm at that same point as well. I've got the souls well, the letter from the trolls and now it just seems to be fighting, gainin resources and scouting. Every time I think I'm getting closer to battling the trolls, which, I assume will get rid of the tributes I'm paying to them, I get yet another army to attack. It's getting tiresome if I'm honest :-(

What happens to these after I harvest them? I have done this a few times now. I don't ever see any new thing though except maybe Jade.

Hi, I really like the game as well, however like you I have come across the rather annoying bug that my army numbers do not add up. I persevered for it until I had an army count of 160, but at this point I really only had around 80, I was missing over half my army. I could not train any more even though I had more than enough materials. When you look at the top it will say you have 160 of 160, but in the resting part it says I had like 84. At this point the game became unplayable to me as I could not defeat any of the stronger enemies. I have also noticed that even though you may lose a soldier you still are paying its food. Seen this happen a few times. These bugs make the game near impossible to play and I have given up. I reset the game hoping that a fresh start would fix it, but within a few hours I came across the bug again and I put my phone down and will not play this until bugs have been fixed.

In the thread about this game on audiogames.net there is some discussion about the different army numbers, but I will try to break it down here. What you actually have is 160 slots not spaces for 160 army units. some units take up one slot, some take up two slots and one or two of them even take up three. What I have noticed and correct me if I am wrong here but I think the ones that use .1 food per second use one slot and the ones that use .2 food per second use two slots etc.

Absolutely loving this game, the accessibility you have implemented has been outstanding so far.
I'm hoping there is going to be a version 2.0 as I have completely finished all the tasks in version one.
If there is going to be a new version, there are a few things I would like to see.
I would like to actually see the cost of certain things decrease somewhat particularly armies housing and farming.
I would like to also see better labelling in the soul well tab, many of the buttons don't really make sense and there are no hints to guide you.
If attacking enemies, I would love the ability to be able to take prisoners and put them to work.
I'm also not sure about stages, the numbers of enemy units fluctuate so much and I would really love to see the ability to force them into a retreat.
If you outnumber the enemy 20 to 1, you really shouldn't have to go through all 150 stages of a battle, they would break long before then.
They are just a few of my thoughts anyway.
Apologies, one more thing, battery drained particularly on iPhone, this game takes a huge amount of battery even after half an hour or more in my experience.
Still, I brought the gold package because I can tell that you are a developer who really cares about Accessibility.

Hi, thanks for this extra information. However I don’t see how it translates to these bugs. The soldiers are dead but still consume a space. And as mentioned, also food even though they don’t exist in the breakdown of the army. when you add Warriors archers Wolves Heelas together it displays one number but the number at the top of your army display some much higher number.

OK, I have not had the problem of dead units still consuming space or food. Maybe that only happens on certain set ups. However, the army slots thing does make sense. If there’s something you don’t understand and you would like me to try to explain something further please let me know.

Hey all, just wanted to say I've been playing this game for a couple days now, and I've got30 of 40 soldiers. The rest of my settlement is expanding nicely.
Seems as if the number of free workers isn't changing as I train troops. I assume, I take from the pool of available workers, but the number of jobless workers hasn't changed. Is this a known bug, or am I misunderstanding a game mechanic?
Also, not really sure when its right to attack. at this point, it seems as if there's only 8 kobolt units, where I have 30. Should I send my army to attack them?
Thanks for any help here. :)

I’m trying to build another storage unit and I’m don’t have enough bricks and boards for the job.
My storage is full with 110k but to build another storage costs 111k of materials.
How can I proceed?
Also IMO the prices for building costs jump drastically!
For example, the previous storage cost was 60k now its 111k? Little much?
Thanks for any help! ☺️

You have to unlock more supplements and this is done by fighting and getting a new settlement location

By TheTripleDeuce on Sunday, December 27, 2020 - 08:26

Is there a way to move Villagers from one settlement to another?

By KE7ZUM on Sunday, December 27, 2020 - 08:26

I'm playing this now, and I notice a few things. At the bottom are question marks that are dimmed. Also the treasury reads a bit funny. It really does not make sense. I'm doing ok, but yeah looks like this game still needs a bit of work;.

updater: now that I'm playing this I think I might have some tips. I'm creating the army which should be done by tomorrow, but basically over due on everything, storage, population, etc.

Have fun.

By KE7ZUM on Sunday, December 27, 2020 - 08:26

Ok, I found out that the add setelment button in the town is not currently visible to voiceover users. I contacted the developer so we'll see if he updates the app so I can move my 67 people over.

By Brad on Sunday, December 27, 2020 - 08:26

The game doesn't tell you how much of thing one you need to build it and it gets frustrating, is there anything I can do, i need to build the monument and have no idea how much stuff I need.

By KE7ZUM on Sunday, December 27, 2020 - 08:26

Actually, it does. If you listen very carefully, you will know what you need. it is right before the image of the thing.

By Brad on Sunday, December 27, 2020 - 08:26

That works.

By DrummerGuy on Friday, August 27, 2021 - 08:26

Actually, I am enjoying this game and I think that Home Quest and another game called Swordy Quest are awesome.
So far I have, if I am not mistaken, five settlement.
Wondering what happens after you fight the Marshland Pact army.
Will I get new settlements?
I hope so because I am enjoying this.
Who is still playing this game?

By Jessica Diaz on Wednesday, October 27, 2021 - 08:26

So, I love that a new version has finally come out. I beat the previous one and just kept building to keep myself busy. The new version is the same but different also. Does anyone know how to get more realistate slots or is it really a maximum you can get per each settlement? Also, what does bread do?

I'm also confused by this. I built a soul well, assigned a shaman to it and went into world and killed a load of wild animals. But the soul tab just shows buttons Speed and Rewards. I must be missing something?

I also unlocked a furnace that I can't find in the town menu. I think maybe I need to build the new settlement first but I don't have any mercury. The next story quest asks me to defeat the trolls but I don't think my army is good enough without the new settlement. I'm hoping that the shamans are the missing piece of the puzzle.

Apologies if I'm just being dense (very likely!). It's great that this game is so easy to play with VoiceOver.

By mr grieves on Monday, December 27, 2021 - 08:26

In reply to by mr grieves

I'm beginning to think it's just bugged. I found a tab on the world screen I had missed before which shows me how much Honour I have, which is now maximised. It shows zero mercury. I'm guessing that when I defeat animals they are supposed to show up on the Souls tab where I can cash them in for rewards? (in my case mercury). But that tab is empty other than the switch button I mentioned earlier.

Is there any way to get support for the app? I followed the link on the store but it took me to the game home page and I couldn't find any contact links.

It's a shame, I was quite enjoying it up until this point. The battles are pretty tedious though, but maybe that's just because I've not been progressing recently.

By Bobbi on Wednesday, December 6, 2023 - 08:26

Hi all, does anyone play this game anymore? I've just discovered it and have paid to support the developer, but I'm absolutely stonewalled on superwells. It's very confusing trying to figure out how to balance them properly. I've gotten a ton of information about watching two colored bars fill up, which I take are represented by either the numbers or the percentages listed, then locking one of the wells when you reach a certain point so that the other side can fill up, but that obviously doesn't help voiceover users. Has anyone been able to get this far? Thanks!
