I restarted my phone and I got an alert saying that your carrier may charge for facetime and I message activation. I dismissed it because a few times that has happened to me and I had to go and activate the facetime and I message manually. anyway, this time when I was trying to turn it on it says waiting for activation. some time after it said an error occurred during activation, try again. and when I tapped continue same thing. I tried everything possible from a hard reset to resetting network settings. finally I backed up my phone and erased everything and did a fresh reinstall. the face time started working again, however, its not accepting my mobile number. Its using my email address. when I tapped on my number its dimmed. I do have credit on my phone so even if it needed that, that wasn't a problem. I took the sim card out and back in and no result. I ran out of ideas so if someone can please help. I'm using the latest ios on an Iphone SE but not the newer SE.

Hi. I'm not sure if this helps but have you googled this? It could be your carrier working on towers or something like that. I'm sorry I'm not much more help. Maybe you can figure out something based on that. Good luck.

Yeah unfortunately I did and nothing was helpful. I probably will have to take it down to the apple store for help but I will have to go really far because the store closest to me hasn't reopened as yet.
