Apple has today released iOS 13.5.1, iPadOS 13.5.1, tvOS 13.4.6, watchOS 6.2.6, and a supplemental update to macOS Catalina 10.15.5 to the public.

According to Apple's release notes for iOS 13.5.1, watchOS 6.2.6, and macOS Catalina 10.15.5 supplemental update, these updates provide "important security updates" and are recommended for all users. We did not have access to the release notes for tvOS 13.4.6 at the time of writing.

As these releases appear to be only security updates, it is unlikely that they contain any accessibility changes for blind and low vision users. However, if you do spot any improvements; regressions; or changes during your use of these releases, please do post a comment to let others know.

How to update

iOS 13.5.1 and iPadOS 13.5.1 are available via Over-the-Air Update (Settings > General > Software Update) via Finder on a Mac with macOS Catalina, or via iTunes on a PC or Mac with macOS Mojave or earlier.

Before updating, we strongly recommend making a full and complete backup of your device (either locally or in iCloud, depending on personal preference). This will ensure that, in the unlikely event that something goes wrong during the update process, you will have a current backup on hand in case a device restore becomes necessary. Also, if using OTA update, we recommend plugging your device into a power source for the duration of the download/installation process, so as to prevent the unlikely event of your battery going dead during the update.

watchOS 6.2.6 is available via Over-the-Air Update (Settings > General > Software Update) or by going to the Watch app on your iPhone and navigating to General> Software Update. To install the update, your Watch must be connected to its charger and have at least 50% battery power.

To install tvOS 13.4.5 on Apple TV 4K or Apple TV (4th generation), go to Settings > System > Software Updates and Select Update Software. If there's an update, select Download and Install. Wait for your Apple TV to download the update. Don't disconnect or unplug your Apple TV until the update completes.

macOS Catalina 10.15.5 supplemental update can be downloaded by going to System Preferences > Software Update.

There has been a bug since iOs13.0. When looking through a list of eMails in your inbox, after you open and read one, or you delete one, the focus jumped back 4 or 5 messages or to the beginning of the list if it were fewer than 3. After installing 13.5.1, the bug has been exterminated.

Hi;

Since I got the iPhone7 iOS 13.5 update I had, it has speeded up battery consumption.
I was forced to charge my device 2 times in 24 hours.
After the last update I got yesterday, there is no problem for now.
my battery has recovered

I don't know when this happened but I now have the Alex voice at 85% or faster now and it finally is very understandable and the words don't get cut off. I don't know if this happened in 13.5 or 13.5.1 but I'm loving it!!!! This is on an iPhone 11 BTW.

Hi! One thing I have enjoyed since I got IOS 13 is being able to use VoiceOver with my iPhone's speaker while listening to something with my bluetooth speaker, but since IOS 13.5 VO has randomly come out of my bluetooth speaker when I didn't want it to. This problem is worse in IOS 13.5.1: if I get a phone-call while using my bluetooth speaker with my iPhone, VO temporarily cuts out altogether just after it says who the call is from. Luckily I know how much I should swipe to answer the call, but that doesn't alter the fact that I find the Audio Destination problems annoying.

I wish it was fixed, but it only doesn't always happen. Pretty annoying, I suppose we will have to wait for 14.

I have problems with Voiceover.

After the update Voiceover needed minutes to come back.

Than I had a second time when there was no voice talking. All the Voiceover sounds were there, but not the voice. I believe I use samantha.
Rebooting did not help. A friend look for me in the menu and Voiceover was turned on.
The voice, Samantha came back on her own after several minutes.
This whole thing reminds me of that bug we had a while ago. After finishing a call, it toke minutes for VoiceOver to come back.
I think I had finished a whatsapp call and put my phone away. After picking it up there was no voice there to assist me.
