Hello,
I am going to buy a MacBook of some kind primarily so I can write music using apps such as protools or garage band. I am unsure however of which one I should buy. I'm don't really care about the size of the laptop as long as it works good with writing music. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,
I would strongly recommend the 15 inch touch bar MacBook pro with the highest core I7 CPU you can afford, max everything out, ram, disk space, etc. The more of everything you have, the better in your case. I am not a mac musician, but from what I know these apps demand a huge load on the machine, and having the i7 quad core CPU will help you tremendously.

Hello, if you intend on using Pro Tools or even the free Pro tools first, I'm not a fan of the Touch bar mac.
I need to quickly use the function keys to switch modes in Pro Tools, and doing that with a touch bar while doable is slow. So, unless you plan on using with an external keyboard which isn't a bad idea anyhow, can't stand the bar.
As for specs, memory is most important. 8 gb is obviously a minimum and 16 gb would be great! I've used pro tools now since 2012, on various macs. Both MBA and MBP are fine solutions. I personally love anything with a SSD drive.
HTH.

Logic is awesome too, and it's activly updated by Apple. it is first-party, thus, it is accessible mostly. get the intel corI7 processer, the most GHZ you can. max out the RAM if you can afford it, too
