Hello, so I updated to Catalina and I am no longer able to use audacity. So now I need recommendations for a low-cost or free simple voice recording app for Mac Catalina that works well with voiceover.

You have two apps that are built in that can record audio. The New voice memos app or quicktime. Of course GarageBand is also an option.
Tried garage band, and was constantly busy!
I’ll give voice memo a try, how is the accessibility with it?
Quicktime
Quicktime works good. I use it for voice work. It saves files in AIFC format, but you can export them as m4a files. It's easy to use. Just open Quicktime and create a recording from the menu bar.
can QuickTime also save as MP three?
I need to record for braille lessons through Hadley, not sure if they can access audio files other than MP three.
