hey! this maybe more than a Marketing Strategy thing.
do you think the games developer should mention the game is specific for the blind and visually impaired?

and do you think mainstream games have accessibility build in and all people can play it even we are visually impaired or not.

In my own opinion, why do we need to be so damn different? For one thing, just because an app is accessible, why do we have to say it's for visually impaired? Accessing an app, or a game should just be obvious. Remember what works for me, may not for you. what i wouldn't touch about an app's inner workings, you might wish or ask, for it to be rebuilt from the ground up. As for mainstream games, I just play them if I want too. If I need help, I ask or if I can memorize how to get where i need to, i do that. If you look at it, we are already different in ways we can't control. We walk with a cane or guide dog, we hold phones upside down to hear their speech. We fold money differently. I personally try to do things as easy as the rest of the world. I am not at all interesting in segragating things any more than they are already.

I hate developers saying a game is spasifically for the blind it just makes us different in that way. I don't think they should mention that at all.

While I appreciate the game being accessible, I hate this as well. I don’t think you need to point out differences. It’s not promoting inclusivity. It is something that segregates.

well,
I totally agree.

I think when someone creating games.
it can not just create to certain people.
and put aside the other.
we are looking for a game that sighted and visually impaired people can play together
I hope this dream can come true in 2020!

I do not think that a game should be listed as being specifically for the blind. However, I do think that it should be mentioned that blind gamers can play a game. This, in my opinion, is not segregating. It is including, which is important. While sighted gamers do not play audio games, this does not mean that they cannot. We, on the other hand, cannot play games that require eyesight.

I would agree with Charles, although I would amend that statement to say we cannot play many games without eyesight.

I think mentioning anything along the lines of "designed with the blind in mind", os a hinderance to everyone. You can make it clear in your description that the game is accessible, and even audio only, but don't put it in the slogan, and for heaven's sake, never, ever put it in the title (unless it enriches that title). A Blind Legend makes sense in terms of narrative for instance. But there are lots of titles which do not. Heck, even the ill-fated GOld Gun - starring, of all things a blind protagonist, didn't do that. Sure, sighted people might not want to play your audio game, but why make it easier for them to make that call? Hook with the description. Make it sound interesting, and then outline accessibility. it's like when a creator shows something off with the description like: "This isn't really very good, but please pay attention to it anyway."

well: first thing, i hate that. We, yeah are blind people, but are we from another planet? thing, whitch you are saying is like hey dude this game is only for blinds, blindy is different from us, they are from another area, another planets. I really hate that situation

There are so many games that we can get from the app store. If no indication of blind friendliness is given with any games, as a lot of you desire, it gives no guideline for those who look for such info when deciding on whether to get a paid app or not. I, for one, appreciate such info which I find important when purchasing.

I think g game developers just mention something like have accessibility features or voice over compatability is good

By CuriousNetEntity on Wednesday, January 22, 2020 - 18:24

No! NO! NO! They shouldn't make us sound so different, and it is also extremely rude to discriminate against the sighted people who want to play audio games. It'd be just as stupid as saying a game is only for girls. Of course I also object to the common practice of labeling games, toys, and websites with age limits that only go up to 99 because I don't think any of those amazing people who have made it to 100 or beyond should be made to feel like they should just give up on life and die now. It is just important to mention what kind of game it is so people can make an informed decision about whether it is likely to be fun for them. Mentioning what accessibility features and compatibility it has is part of that necessary description.

I don't think developers should mention that it is for blind only. Myself, I would be offended if an app says for sighted only.
I think that if an app is accessible to both blind and sighted it should be mentioned, but I don't think developers should say it's for blind or sighted only.

That's an interesting topic, and this is our opinion.
We have decided to stop saying we are doing audiogames, or that we do games for the blind and visually impaired gamers. We prefer to say that our games are fully accessible, and that's it. We think that many sighted players didn't play AudioWizards (our first game) because we marketized it then as designed for the B&VI, and so perhaps they thought it was a weird thing and never bought it. We don't know. However, we are going to continue doing fully accessible games, and hopefully in the next months we get AudioWizards at least beta tested, and KILTA in early launch. And believe me, they will be accessible. Will we say that they are designed with the blind in mind? most probably not any more, or not at least outside applevis or audiogames forums.
