deleting old email addresses that are added to contacts

I have a friend with a problem on her iPhone. She writes: Regarding deleting contacts I'm interested in deleting old email addresses that somehow get added to my email contacts. they don't show up in the phone and so there is no edit field I can use to delete them. I looked through all my phone contacts and none of the email addresses I want to delete are there. Is there a way of deleting email addresses that get added upon reply?

I'm having the same problem.
apple have said could solve the problem by resetting my device when I perform interviews with customer service.

If I recall the way I did so in the past was going to email, contact, slide all the way to the end and it tended to show there. I think I slike up to delete each email.
