I'd like to see if anyone else can weigh in on this. I tried to test it with my iPad for you and I get the same results. I am not able to slide to type when it is enabled in my VoiceOver rotor on my iPad. It seems to only accept touch typing. Slide to type definitely works on the iPhone though.
Hi, I’m wondering about this too. I was able to float the keyboard and turned on slide to type via the rotor but when I try to use the keyboard it doesn’t work.
I talked with Apple support and figured this one out. You have to do an extra long press on the key you want to start the word with and then wait until you hear a sound (or see the cursor disappear if your sight is good enough). Then you can start to swipe. As you progress through each letter the system will provide auto suggestions. For example, if you want to type “drink” you would press down on the letter d until you hear a sound them you would swipe the rest of the letters.
