I have a student that I am teaching and his Apple Watch will not mute the ringer or alerts using the mute feature through control panel? he has also tried using the theater mode and mute mode together, still phone rings come through and message notifications come through And the ringtones as well come through. He needs this feature for meetings when he does not want the watch to ring or notifications to make any sound. for the time being I’m going to recommend that he use do not disturb if we can locate this under the control panel. Can someone help?

Suggest he also mute phone when i meetings. Also he might try do a reset by holding crown and button below down at the same time for 20 seconds and watch will restart. I had this problem but it went away. Now I mute both.
Thank you so much for your reply
We will give this a try, thanks for being so quick to help. This has become such a problem and it’s a shame because he was given the watch is a gift and really wants to be able to use it properly.
Phone setting under Watch app.
Hi, to turn off the ringer for phone calls open up the watch app (on the iPhone) and scroll down and select phone. within the phone setting there is an option to turn off sound. hope this helps.
one more thing.
HI, sorry I did not mention this as well but you could also check under sounds and haptics (on the watch app on the phone) and make sure that silent mode is turned on. doing this should turn off the message alerts, however you still need to turn off the ringer through the phone setting in order to silence phone calls (see my previous post)hope this helps.
Thank you so much
Hi.
Thanks so much for the tip about turning off the ringer in the phone section in the watch app.
