annoying VoiceOver bug in Messages app in iOS 13.3.1

this bug is very annoying and I don't know of any workarounds. when I add a contact to send a message to, VoiceOver no longer announces the contact name when I go back to that field to confirm that I have entered the right contact. it now just says the phone number. this can be especially difficult when using group messaging. I can no longer confirm who is getting my text messages if I don't know their phone numbers by memory. has anybody else experienced this annoying bug? and to anyone who is a beta tester, has this issue been fixed in 13.4?

I do not believe I had experience with this one. When I go back to the main Messages list I do see their name. So, I think this may be what you're experiencing but not others.

I just got off the phone with an Apple Accessibility rep. We did a screen share and I showed him what it's doing. He says that on the display it is showing the name of the contact, so it's definitely a VO bug. He says he is reporting it to engineering.

Hope soon the bugs for VO are address when iOS 13.4 comes out.

Yes, as you say VO used to announce the name but now it announces the phone number. Who knows anyone's phone number any more these days? The name should always be announced and, if people want to know the phone number, it should be in the More Info dialog.

I'm glad someone reported this bug. It is very frustrating especially if you don't have the contacts number memorized.

i'm glad to finally hear from a beta tester about this bug. Thank you for reporting it. Hopefully it will be resolved by the time 13.4 is released to the public.
