Creating a Contact Group in iOS

What is the easiest and most accesible way of creating a contact group for an iOS device? Resources I found on the web seem to indicate that this can't be done directly from my iPhone but rather that I have to get onto iCloud on the web. then the instructions talk about dragging and dropping contacts into the group, but that isn't always easy with a screen reader. So I'm wondering if people have any better recommendations or if Apple now has a way of doing this more directly from my phone.

Thanks.

If you don't mind third party apps - and ones that cost 99 cents an haven't been updated for some time - I've used this one in the past with no complaints:

Groupy

I now have Cardhop which offers the same functionality (plus a lot more being essentially a replacement for the Contacts app), but at $4.99 is probably overkill for just creating groups.

First, thanks for the app recommendation.

Although I was about to use the Groupy app which you recommended, I was a bit reluctant because it was an older app and doesn't seem like it is being supported. So I tried creating a contact group on my PC in Outlook. That turned out to be fairly easy to do. One can Google for instructions, but basically the idea was to create a new folder under the iCloud / Contacts folder with the group name and then copy and paste contacts into the new folder. The new group then showed up on my iPhone.

Anyway, would be nice if Apple provided a way to do this directly within iOS since using iCloud on the webn to create a group was a real nightmare with a screen reader and I finally gave up trying it that way.

The first time I created an E-Mail for the group, I added all of their addresses into the To edit box. I added them alphabetically for ease of memory. Next I created the subject and message for the E-Mail and sent it out. Now when I need to send another message to the entire group, I create a new E-Mail, ender only the first name of the person that came first in the alphabet. Next I look at the auto populated suggestions. What I see is a group that includes all their names as a single entry. A one finger double tap on this multi-entry adds all their names into the field. I also see the individual name suggestions for that first person that I entered so if I wanted to send something to that person, iOS is nice and suggests that individuals entry, as well. this works consistently for me.
