Unable to add information to actions when creating shortcuts

Hello

I have been trying to create some shortcuts on Ios 13 with the latest shortcuts app and am finding that I can't add all of the information to actions to make my shortcuts work.

For example, if I try to create a simple shortcut with one action to send a message to a contact, I cannot see how to add the message and the contact name to the action after adding it to the shortcut. I can find no actions on the Voice over rota to do this and can not find any other fields to enter this information.

Similarly with the adjust date action I can see a Voice Over rota action which allows me to specify whether I want to add or subtract from a date but no rota actions or fields to specify whether to add minutes or seconds or the number of minutes or seconds to add.

I am sure that I managed to create shortcuts in an earlier version of the app without these issues, but that was a long time ago when Workflow first became shortcuts.

Has anyone else had this issue? Is it a Voice Over bug or am I doing something wrong?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
James

It only seems to be an issue with certain shortcut actions. I encountered this myself with the adjust date action, as you described. There are other actions that don't have this problem, even with multiple fields. Why this is, I have no idea, and it certainly wasn't always this way.

When I had to create an adjust date action, I had to temporarily turn off VoiceOver to activate the fields VoiceOver wasn't recognizing. Again, this wasn't a problem in earlier versions of Shortcuts.

At some point I intend to go through the various actions and see which ones have this problem and which ones don't, then contact Apple Accessibility with the info so that they can address the issue.

Hi

Thnks. Glad it's not just me. Do you have any tips for activating the fields without Voice Over or is it just hit and miss?

Perhaps anyone else who has had issues with particular actions could add to this thread. The issue with the Send Message action is really annoying as I think a lot of people will have this issue. I will also contact Apple accessibility about this.

Thanks.

I’ve also seen this. I tried creating a shortcut for a radio station at specific time. Station was found in shortcut app. I was able to select certain actions, while others were greyed out. Not able to complete shortcut. Reported to Apple.

I double tap on the actions menu, and all I can find is call so-and so, message so and so, and all I want is a notification for when my battery is fully charged, or an automated shortcut that will turn on low battery mode.
