Hello,
The different programs work quite well with Voiceover on both the Mac and iOS. You can get a thirty day trial to see if it will meet your needs. I purchased the Home option which allows me to install it on to Five PC's or Macs and five mobile devices.
Chuck,
AS far as I know the Microsoft Suite of applications is not accessible with voice over. I cannot say so myself since I do not use a Mac on a daily basis. I have heard though that individuals are able to use the stock apps that come with the operating system and those programs are Pages which is like Microsoft Word and numbers which is a spread sheet program like Excel.
I'm not 100 percent sure, but I still am relatively sure that Microsoft products do not work well on a Mac. Perhaps other users can weigh in and confirm this who have tried to use it.
Actually they are very accessible. I know several peopel who use them, not me, but it's good to know my subscription will cover my pc if needed, I hope, if I decided to jump in as well?
first, to the commenter who stated that Microsoft Office is inaccessible on the mac is refiring to old information. yes, Microsoft Office 2011 and earlier is not accessible. but 2016 and later is. second, I am taking a university course on The Beatles and I am required to write a paper for my final grade. What is more accessible with VoiceOver, Microsoft Word or Pages? I have a Microsoft Office365 subscription through my university, and can use it as long as I am a student there. I'm also on the "Insider Fast" level for office updates. are advantagus for accessibility?

Daniel
Saying Microsoft is inaccessible is giving false information. I wish people would only give remarks on what they actually know.
I’m back to Windows for main computer. Easier using my 365 for this reason. I’m finding Word to be more useful than Pages. Not perfect, but workable and accessible. Works whether using my Dell, MAC, or iPad.
yes, Office 365 is better. Microsoft are ending support for standalone versions of Office on October 21st of this year. plus, it gets regular monthly updates on the "Production" channal and more if you are an office insider, both on slow and fast levels. all office 365 updates have the potentional of improving accessibility with VoiceOver.

Daniel
What's the current accessibility status of Microsoft 365 together with VO? I would need good and working support for Word and Excel, for the latter I mostly need simple calculations like adding, subtraction, percent calculation and stuff like that.
So, what's the status currently? Does it work well together or is this still a lucky guess game?
I've been using Office 365 for about a year. Generally, I use it on my PC to write articles or other documents but if I want to read them on the go I use an iPhone to do that and everything works well. What I really like is cloud synchronisation so I have an access to the document even my computer is not with me. Even creating a document on an iPhone with Office is more intuitive than with Pages for iOS. I'd rather pay once and use it for life rather than each year but this is company's policy, unfortunately.
I haven't purchased a 365 subscription yet; however, in my recent research, I actually found an article on Microsoft's website indicating that they are in direct partnership with Freedom Scientific, to ensure that JAWS users have the best accessibility possible. I found that you can download the apps to the PC for use so that you don't have to interact with them on the the web interface. Freedom Scientific does have some webinars walking you through the online and offline uses, which may be of assistance to you, as well.
Also, having the 1 TB of online storage space using OneDrive is a nice thing. Personally, I really hate the subscription-based thing for software. Unfortunately, if you are a long time Office user like myself, I don't think there is any way around it unless you want to pay the high price tag for software ownership. this is the last thing I wanted to do, but I'm going to have to do the subscription thing, too. If you purchase the Home and business version, (I think that's the proper name), then you have six user keys, with each user having the 1 TB of online storage.
One final thing that I read... It is suggested by many sources not to do the auto renewal thing with Microsoft, because you can purchase the new subscription from places like Amazon.com for quite a bit less. amazon makes it so that your new subscription is pushed into your Microsoft account mostly automatically for you. Remember, if you find a sale price for the annual subscription on amazon, purchase as many user keys as you can. Each key will subsequently be put onto your Microsoft account for you. I think I read that You can do a total of five user keys at a time. so this would give you four keys to purchase, after the initial subscription. If bought at the sale price, then you have saved a lot, for the next five years.
there is no difference weather you install Microsoft Office from the Mac App Store or from office.com as a .pkg file in functionality. The only difference is when you download a .pkg file it takes a bit for the installation. Actibation is handled through the office apps with a .pkg file, while installation through the Mac App Store is handled throjuth there.
