Simple GPS

I'd like to put a simple GPS app on my blind husband's iPhone. I was going for BlindSquare, but it appears to be gone from the app store. I just thought it would be handy for him to know nearby streets, which direction he's heading, and possibly some points of interest.
I was thinking free or low-cost. Reccomendations?
Thanks.

Hi,

I use Lazarillo. It is free and works well with Voiceover. Lazarillo does announce direction of travel and can also find nearby points of interest. The app also announces approaching intersections that are ahead. I like this app a lot and highly recommend it.

Another free app that might work for you is Microsoft Soundscape. It does utilize a pair of stereo headphones such as the Apple airPods, but it will give you a sort of 3D soundscape of your surroundings. Here is a link to the Applevis directory entry for this app:

It's free, so you've nothing to lose.
