I am using an I phone 7 plus running IOS 12 and am wondering if there are any Voice Over gestures to getting the phone app to go to speaker phone mode. If i move the phone away from my ear it seems to go to speaker mode but the volume is extremely low and toggling the volume button does not seem to make it much louder. Does anyone have any info on Voice Over gestures that will make the speaker phone mode work better? Are there any other things I can do to make the speaker phone mode work better?

Try going into Settings, Sounds, and ensuring that the system volume is at 100%. Over my time using the iPhone, I have discovered that sometimes I have to go there to confirm the volume percentage, because it periodically will be lower than expected, despite the volume button being at maximum otherwise.
