Question about using a custom VoiceOver gesture to go to the Status Bar

Hi Guys,
I've successfully used a VO command to open control centre which I find very useful. However, I wanted to do the same to go to status bar as iOS 13 seems to have made it harder to get to it. It doesn't work though. I used single finger triple tap but instead of going to the status bar it simply plays a sound and stays where it is. Other gesture changes seem to work so bit baffled why this is failing. Any thoughts or is this just me therefore a limited bug. iOS 13.1 iPhone 8.

I used a 2 finger swipe left to go to the status bar. It has been working fine when I’m in an app, but not when I’m on the home screen. I’m running ios 13.1 on an iPhone XR.

Hi,
Ok so just tried my gesture in an app and yes it does what it says on the tin. I was on the home screen where it doesn't work. I presume it is meant to from anywhere so this seems like a minor bug then. I wonder if anyone has managed to get it to work from the home screen.

Hello Lee
I selected the 3 finger single tap to go to top of screen and 2 finger up-swipe to reach the end of screen. I selected 4 finger single tap to read the status bar, but this 4 finger single tap for the status bar only works inside all apps. Not on any of my Home screens. The 3 finger single tap for top of screen plus the 2 finger swipe-up for end of screen works both in all apps plus all Home screens. Strange indeed.

I used a quadruple tap for that action. It works in apps, as well as in Safari. As long as you’re not near a link when doing the gesture.
I think not working on Home screen is actually done on purpose. Home screen is used often, I think it’s for not accidentally activating.

Interestingly though the rest of the gestures seem to work from the home screen. I don't understand why Apple would restrict this one gesture. Especially as the home screen is the default starting point so logically you should be able to get to any place from there.

I notice that in the lock screen in the past I went to the top right to find status, you just need to find it. When the screen is unlock, top left I find it. I am going to create a shortcut for it and cross it is a bug and apple fix it before the end of the year.

Hi. iPhone 10s iOS 13.1.1.

I programmed a two finger quadruple tap for status bar, and it worked great everywhere with iOS 13.0, but after upgrading to iOS 13.1, it only works when inside apps.

I just tried setting a custom VO gesture to activate the status bar, and just like what others mentioned, only works in apps.
I wish Apple fix this bug, or at least make the status bar easier to reach, as I often find that the status bar is extremely hard to access, especially from the home screen.

Hi all
How do you customize the jester to go to the status bar? I’ve customize a lot of gestures already but I didn’t see status bar in the list. Can anyone let me know how to do it?
And ever since iOS 13 came out, it’s been hard finding the status bar by touch. Before, every time I open the Messages app, it would take me directly to the status bar which was really annoying but Apple seem to fix that issue with iOS 13.1. now, I just use the top left corner to find it, but it isn’t always accurate. I’m running iOS 13.1.1 on an iPhone XS max.

Hi X2,
It is where all the other commands are. Under VO commands go to touch gestures it is in there. I think it shows as move to status bar so if you flick quickly expecting to hear status bar you won't ear it. You need to listen to the full description.
