Hello,
I am the developer of the app Speech Central. The iOS version was nominated for the best accessible iOS app in 2017 on AppleVis, and macOS and iOS versions together nominated my company Labsii for the developer of the year: https://www.applevis.com/blog/closed-cast-your-votes-now-applevis-golden-apples-2017
In August 2019 the app has crossed 10,000 licenses sold on all platforms, so I've decided to celebrate this with a big discount. On 2nd September (it has already started now and may be available on 3rd September too in some time zones) the price will be reduced from 7.99$ to 0.99$.
The App Store link to get the app is: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/speech-central-text-to-speech/id1223093645

Bought the app a while a go
Bought the app a while a go.It's a good app.
Thanks!
It is really nice to see old users supporting the app. Seeing happy people is even more important than making the app profitable.
Bookshare issues
jus bought the app for Mac, when I press the add button and then hit BookShare the app seems to close and go back to the Applications folder.
So how can I use Bookshare with the app?
Thanks
Sean
Fixed in the latest version
That error has appeared in the version published on Aug 13, 2019. This was not particularly tested as no changes where made in this part of the app, but Apple made some changes on their side that eventually caused the crash.
The problem was reported on Aug 30. It was fixed the next day and after some new features where being completed it has been submitted to the App Store on Sep 2. Finally Apple approved the new version today, so it is likely that you can see the update if you go to the App Store now, if not then it should happen in a few hours.
audiobook play back
Only reason I still insist on using the voice dream reader on iOS and Mac at least the beta application is for the ability to play zipped audiobooks. I'd love to see this feature in speech central
RE: audiobook play back
As this is the reply to reply in the old thread just to note that the app is now completely free when used with VoiceOver on iOS so the information on very start of this thread is obsolete.
I am not completely sure what are zipped audio-books, I have heard in those 8 years for the first time from one user yesterday.
If you refer to Daisy books as they are delivered in zip format and technically they can have audio the app does support Daisy books but only at the text-to-speech level (e.g. Bookshare books are delivered that way). I haven't seen that any user thus far had the need for that optional audio component to work and I am not really sure how many such books actually exist.
If you refer to .mp3 files that are just zipped you can unzip them and play them in any audio player.
Impressive app!
I’ve just discovered this app and I love its clean, simple interface. It handles such a wide range of document formats! Plus scanning text using the camera. And recognising languages too. It has obviously been a labour of love - a really generous activity. I bought the pro version to support the developer and I will be doing a presentation about it next week to our local blind society tech group to spread the word!
Great app and very…
Great app and very collaborative and responsive developer.
I bought the app for Mac and iOS.
