drag to connect? How on Earth does that work?
Hi,
I downloaded this app to work with my color sound link 2, I opened the app, and turned on my speaker, but it says drag to connect, then sound color link 2. No matter what I do, whether it be double tap, double tap and hold, or split tap, nothing happens. So how do I make the app see my speaker?
Thanks
Turn on the speaker first
Hey their!
Turn on the speaker first and then the app should see your speaker that has been connected. I tried the same thing you did. I thought you could just run the app first, then turn on the speaker second. Nope? So, turn on the speaker first, then run the app second. Let me know if that works. If nothing else, get a hold of me privately on twitter and I'll see if I can help.
Noise control added to QC 35
Please update the article with Following
1 noise control added to QC 35
2 you can't rename your headphone
Get a hold of Bose
I copied the text directly from the ITunes app store. If your having issues, you need to speak to Bose directly and they're tech support. You will need to explain your issue, or issues to them.
I sometimes have difficulty
I sometimes have difficulty getting this app to connect to my qc35. turning on/off the headphones and relaunching the app several times usually works, though. If you are having issues with the app or your supported device, tweet @boseservice and let them know. If you mention anything about accessibility, they'll probably just tell you to follow and DM them. I did this not expecting much, but the new qc35 firmware at last fixes the muting all audio when you pause media, which made them almost unusable with VoiceOver.
I'm sure the software needs a serious update
For those that are running the app, I'm sure this needs a serious update. As I said yesterday, I was looking around and found this app and it worked for me. I did forget to mention, at least for me, I did set the screen to never lock and I did plug in the IPod while I updated the bluetooth speaker that I have from them. My speaker is a sound link color II siries. I had an original one of these but, the stand by time was horrible and the battery wasn't staying charged in two units.
Bose Connect
My advice to people using Bose devices with the Bose connect app is to telephone the Bose company and follow their instructions over the phone, they are very good, as my Bose qc35 headphones were corrupt when I tried it on my own please get their help first!!
I had no issues
In a comment I just read about calling Bose, I don't think you did something right. I don't know since I'm not there. I upgraded my speaker and still have no issues what so ever. Are you sure you followed the instructions in the app? Also, why would Bose put out an app and then not expect it to work as intended? I've delt with Bose for years and they are very good.
More on Bose connect
This is just an update in case you have issues with the Bose connect app. The latest update has some issues with VoiceOver and that is kind of sad. Here's how to get around this if using your Bose speaker and you want to check for a firmware update.
1. Open a Safari page.
2. Press CMD-l and go to this page.
Note: This page does not have http://, or www.
3. The page looks like this without the quotes.
"btu.bose.com."
4. Make sure that your bose is turned off and hooked up to the Mack when doing this firmware update.
5. Follow all of the instructions, and your done!
Welcome to your new firmware!
Bookmark the page so you can get firmware updates. This should work for all Bose products.

Can’t get through setup
I just got the QC35 with built in google assistant. When the voice prompt says to download the app and continue setup, nothing happens. I tried double tapping on the device name but nothing happens.
Accessibility information needs to be updated
There are very significant accessibility issues with the current version of the app. It isn't even possible for a VoiceOver user to accept the terms of service now, and the rest of the interface has quite a few design problems. Could someone please update the accessibility information?
I have alerted Bose
I have alerted Bose about this serious issue. Unfortunately they haven't updated the app I see to fix the issues.
This brings up the question
This brings up the question "what's the best way to advocate for improving accessibility of this app?" When one of the last updates came out and I couldn't accept the updated terms of service I tweeted @boseservice and told them about this. Naturally, they just told me to DM them with more details. I did this, trying to nicely explain why accessibility is important, and I think I included a link back here. I don't think it made much of an impact though. Anyone else tried to educate them about what VoiceOver is and accessibility? I know a lot of time people just don't know, but it can often feel like they don't care.
Editing app directory information
Themusicman08, perhaps you could update the accessibility information for this app to say that at the present time, it isn't very accessible.
Base Bose and accessibility
I was surprised to read the initial posting about this app saying how well it worked with VoiceOver since, although I haven't used this particular app, I have struggled with the Bose Sound touch app for controlling my Bose WiFi radio / CD player. What a nightmare in terms of accessibility that app pis! So I was hoping that Bose had changed their tune and become more responsive to feedback from the visually impaired community.
Well, after reading some more of the reviews of the Bose connect app, it seems like Bose developers have not changed or become more responsive to accessibility concerns after all.
yes, I've written to them about the poor accessibility but never heard anything back. The Bose Sound Touch app has been terrible to use with VoiceOver for several years.
Hopefully Bose will eventually get the message that making accessible apps only makes the apps better and more enjoyable to use by everybody even if they don't use VoiceOver.

Bose attitudes to accessibility
I bought the sound touch amp a couple of years ago to use with existing speakers thinking this was a great idea! Unfortunately the amp unlike the sound touch speakers has no remote control and only 1 button on the top to put it into setup mode. The rest needs to be done through the app which I found at the time to be completely inaccessible. I tweeted and emailed Bose about this and ended up returning the amp for a full refund because the issue wasn't getting fixed, I couldn't use the amp at all and they really didn't even seem to have the technical knowledge of what I was talking about. So disappointing as I've loved their products for years and they're such a big company they really should be getting this right! I do have 2 soundlink Bluetooth speakers and haven't got round to trying this connect app. Disappointed but not surprised that this has issues as well. I don't know what to suggest other than hounding them until they get the point!
Not sure what to say here
I wish that Bose did get the point of fixing the software for the iPhone units but that isn't going to happen. I've spoken with them by phone and I think at this point, going the way of the website is the best for now to receive updates.
How to get around the dimed out box
Ok. This is a bit tricky, but it can be done since I just tried this hours ago. If you have someone who has some sight, or if you have a bit of vision when using the magnify features, you can double tap the check box for the I agree check box for the Bose app. Then when you know the box is showing, it will turn black. Then double tap the box and the app will launch like it should. Still, contacting Bose and speaking to them about accessibility is very important. Here's the website.

new Bose Sleep App is not accessible similar to Bose Connect Ap
Using iphone 8 with the most recent version of IOS. Bose just put out a new product, the Bose Sleep Buds, and they have a new App to go along with them, the Bose Sleep App. The App is basically completely inaccessible. You can not set up the product independently without sighted assistance. Once you get the product set up using assistance, it's almost impossible to play/pause the sleep noises and it is impossible so far as I can figure out to actually change the sounds and otherwise adequately operate the sleep buds using the App. Notably, this new product can only be operated through the App as the sleep buds themselves have no controls. So, if the App is inaccessible, the product cannot be used which is my situation. I also own the QC 30 headphones and I've just given up using the App and just use the headphones without using or updating the App. I have communicated with Bose several times and have basically been given the run-around. The last email communications I had with their technical people, they told me that they would be unable to notify their corporate headquarters about the issue so they gave me the corporate headquarters phone number and suggested I contact them. I plan to do this eventually. The phone number they gave me in case anyone else wants to use it is 508.879.7330.
8.0 App is accessible as of Feb 28!
After trying to work with Bose on accessibility of Connect app for a few years. I'm excited that it's finally happen, especially before the critical deadline of Audio AR being available this month. It's the first time I've been able to have meaningful and useful VoiceOver access to Bose Connect app interfacing with headphones and speakers that are supported. It's basic now, but equal: (obtaining serial number and checking for updates). Former use case of getting SN is very difficult otherwise (printed on hardware) because of small-text, low-contrast, and even with AIRA.
"Feb 28, 2019Version 8.0.0
Thanks for using the Bose Connect app! We update the app regularly so that you can get the most from your Bose products.
Here’s what we did for Bose Connect version 8.0:
- Laid the groundwork to support Bose AR – an innovative audio-only take on augmented reality (coming soon!)
- Made Accessibility improvements
- Fixed bugs, improved the UI, and did some general cleaning up under the hood"
This is supposed to be accessible now?
I just re downloaded this app after previously deleted it as it wasn't accessible and I still can't seem to add speakers to the app. Is this part still not accessible or am I missing something?
New version has been released
Version 8.1.1 has been released a few days ago and it still has accessibility. If you swipe to the left, you can go to the about section and then double tap. Swipe down until you hear your version number. If it's an older version, update the app. As for finding the speaker or headsets you want to use, they must be turned on first before launching the app.
Latest Update
Just updated this app today, and it seems to be extremely accessible.
